Mobile data not turning on

Good evening, I am reaching out to you as I recently acquired a Galaxy S10 Plus. When I am not connected to Wi-Fi, my mobile data does not activate even though it is checked, as well as the data roaming at the top of the phone where the Wi-Fi network icon and battery percentage are located. Once I leave my house, I do not have the two downward arrows that I had on my previous phone that indicated I was using mobile data. Could someone provide me with information regarding my issue? Thank you.

Is the service activated in your Free mobile customer area?

Thank you, I checked all that and it's good, it doesn't come from there.

Thank you very much for your information, but my real problem is still not solved. I've never struggled so much with a mobile phone, incredible. Have a good evening and thank you again.

Hello Kaumune, and thank you for your info. I immediately went to my subscriber area in options as you advised me, and I don't have the data service. I contacted Free to get explanations since I have a plan at 19.99 euros and on all my previous phones, I could access the internet when I was not on Wi-Fi; I went directly to mobile data?

Hello,

It is normal that you do not have the screen presented by kaumune, as it pertains to the €2 plan. You certainly have unlimited mobile data.

I believe there is a problem with your smartphone. Free is probably not responsible for it. However, if you contact them, they should be able to help you.

Normally, mobile data remains activated when you are on Wi-Fi. Wi-Fi takes priority when it is enabled.

To put it another way, the issue is that your mobile data disconnects when you switch to Wi-Fi.

What is well understood is expressed clearly,
And the words to say it come easily.

Hello Pierre, and thank you for your information. I've checked everything on my S10 Plus, and I can't seem to solve this problem. I've searched online without finding a solution. I've sent a message to Free through my subscriber area, and I'll see what they say. With my previous phones, I never had this issue; as soon as I left my apartment, the mobile data took over. Have a great day and thanks again, Alberto.

When you are on Wi-Fi, go to your smartphone notifications and reactivate mobile data.
What happens when you leave the Wi-Fi?

Pierre, I just did it with Wi-Fi and without Wi-Fi, and it's the same with or without Wi-Fi. I have access to all my apps "app notifications all and access to notifications only two, why?

I don't understand what you are explaining.

Here's the situation on my smartphone when I activate the wifi.
Mobile data remains enabled and when I leave the wifi, the switch occurs immediately to 4G.

With Wifi:
Without Wifi:

Pierre, it's difficult to communicate through messages, I’m aware of that. I barely know how to take a screenshot on my computer, and I can’t do it at all on my smartphone, but I will try to explain myself regarding the last two images you posted, as that’s exactly what I wanted to talk about. So, with the Wi-Fi on the right side of the first image, showing the time and battery percentage, and on the left side, you have your mobile data displayed, right? Then in the image without Wi-Fi, still with the same icons on the right, you switch to 4G and on the left, you still have your mobile data. We agree on that, don’t we? In the higher image that I have, with Wi-Fi connected and mobile data, I come to my problem regarding the last two images after I did the operation you asked me; it's precisely those two images where my mobile data is not displayed, even though they are active, as shown in your first image above. I hope you can see where my issue is. The last two images are exactly what I wanted to talk about; that’s where my data isn’t showing up, even though they are activated.

What is on the left side simply indicates that I am connected to a Free antenna. It has nothing to do with mobile data.
This icon that I added is becoming less and less useful, as it is very rare now to switch to the Orange network.

What is important is the first screenshot which shows that even when the wifi is connected, mobile data remains active.

on the first two with Wi-Fi and without Wi-Fi with mobile data active on both, on the third without Wi-Fi with mobile data active but not displayed on my screen, and on the fourth with Wi-Fi and mobile data enabled but not shown on my screen, it is impossible to go on the internet one way or another, Pierre

In your screenshots, the 4G icon at the top of the screen is incorrect.
It should normally be an icon with 2 small arrows underneath that light up when there is data exchange.
The absence of these arrows suggests that no data exchange is possible.

I wonder if there is a problem with the SIM card.

Try contacting Free and explain to them that your 4G icon is not normal.

If you have the possibility to test with another SIM card, it would be crucial to determine where the problem lies.

Yes Pierre, it shows 4G because the two little arrows pointing down don't appear in any case, whereas on my old phones, as soon as I left the Wi-Fi, those arrows would show up. I admit I'm a bit fed up. In my spare time, I'll try to take out the SIM card and put it back, maybe it's not seated properly, who knows. There’s no reason for this otherwise. I'll continue as is. Thank you for your help, have a pleasant evening despite the circumstances. Alberto.

I reiterate everything that has been said:

In fact, it's not really a problem with mobile data not activating when you leave Wi-Fi.

Simply put, 4G is not working!

So there are 2 possibilities:
- Defective SIM card
- or defective smartphone.

As I mentioned, the simplest solution is to test with another SIM card, not necessarily from Free, to identify the problem.
