Hello,
I would like to delete many emails from my inbox in Thunderbird. There are several dozen under the same title.
I believe I don't have to delete them one by one.
How can I do that?
Thanks for your help.
Best regards,
dpl

Hello .....

Just press the keyboard keys
  • Control (ctrl) and then use your mouse to highlight the lines you want to delete ► And press Delete on the keyboard
  • Or if you want to delete a series of consecutive lines, press Control (Ctrl) and then hold down the Shift key (up arrow on the keyboard) ► point to a line and then Delete .... all the selected lines will be deleted
  • Another method even faster... but so fast that all the lines will go to the trash in a flash ► Point to a line and hold down the Delete key and all the lines will be deleted

Personally, I recommend the 2nd solution
Talk to you later for your comments... but if none ► Resolved

Hello,

Multiple selection:

If the messages are contiguous:
- Select the first one
- While holding down the Shift key, select the last one
- Delete or right-click / delete

If the messages to be deleted are not contiguous:
- Select the first one
- While holding down the Ctrl key, select each message to delete
- Delete or right-click / delete

To delete all messages in a folder:
- Select any one
- Hold down the Ctrl key and press A
- Delete or right-click / delete

If all the messages to be deleted have the same subject:
- Sort by subject by clicking on "Subject" in the column header to make messages with the same subject contiguous
- Select as above from first to last
- Delete or right-click / delete
- Return to sorting by date by clicking twice on "Date"

The same principle applies in Thunderbird as in Windows Explorer

P.S: This multiple selection principle can also be used to move messages to another folder (right-click / move to / choose the destination folder)
