Sending message with Thunderbird: access denied Solved

Hello everyone  I can't send messages with Thunderbird even though receiving is OK it works well with Outlook I must have missed something  The error message is as follows: An error occurred while sending the mail: the mail server sent an incorrect greeting<...............................>:client host rejected: access denied. A priori, it's authenticated: you probably need to check the box "use a username and password" in your SMTP settings.

I have the same problem with Wanadoo. All my emails sent to a Wanadoo client go through, while all those sent to another ISP are rejected. What should I do?

Hello,   I also have a problem with sending my messages on Thunderbird; I receive perfectly but cannot send my emails, I have tried all the proposed solutions. Hello,  I've only been having the problem with Thunderbird for the past 2 days, my ISP is AOL. Everything was working fine until now, I don't know what happened.   I checked the help on aol-neuf and they told me to change and set smtp.neuf.fr for outgoing mail then switch back to 25 instead of 587 (the opposite of what it was before) but nothing works.   I receive my messages but cannot send any.  Thank you for your response.    Another problem but probably not related: the signal strength of my connection is "very weak," everything was working fine before too.....   Marie

The problem might be due to your firewall, I had the same issue; You need to allow Thunderbird through your firewall, I can't tell you more, I did the same as you, I got the info from a forum,  There you go, and good luck.

I have a problem sending emails with Thunderbird for a few days (I have no problem receiving them).  When I try to send a message, it says: "The message sending failed. The message could not be sent due to a connection failure to the SMTP server"...   I have checked and re-entered the settings several times and it still doesn't work! I'm lost!!! Hello,  So I'm not going to be original, I also have trouble sending messages with Thunderbird. My ISP is Orange. I have tried several times to change the outgoing server settings as JB suggested, but nothing works, always the same error message!  Just to clarify: it asks me for my password several times before I give up and cancel. It's at that moment that the error message appears. I actually feel like I've entered my password correctly... hi  be careful with the lowercase space point, especially for the password  it should work, no problem with yahoo.  you must have typed something wrong sometimes it's just a little mistake, check everything carefully delete the account and start from the beginning  good luck

There is progress, but it only works one time out of ten...  Apparently, you need to go to your internet service provider (Free for me) and check that you are using a different SMTP output than the one provided!  There you go, thanks for your help!

I have Free as my ISP, and for the past 2 weeks, I haven't been able to send emails to laposte.net. The error message keeps coming back like this: host smtp4.laposte.net[193.251.214.113] said: 550  Error: Message content rejected (in reply to end of DATA command)  even though the laposte email address is correct!!!  Furthermore, I have received several emails from people I know where the message is empty even though they wrote to me!!!  Is this a firewall problem or something else?  Thank you!

Good evening, HERE is my solution  I just tested my 2 Free email addresses with smtp.free.fr and it didn't work  I've had a Livebox for a short time and my provider is Orange, and testing my email with SMTP.ORANGE.FR works WELL!  So with my Free email addresses, I use and keep the SMTP from Orange and it works  Undoubtedly, the ISP that filters the messaging, so you have to go through their SMTP, quite simply, and hence a firewall problem on the Orange side!!  V.Y.Z who just spent 30 minutes on this stupid problem.

Hello, I'm not going to be original. I'm not repeating what so many people have already said, Thunderbird cannot connect to the SMTP of La Poste. I'm sure the information entered into the SMTP is correct since at work (when I plug my PC directly), Thunderbird has no problem. At home where I'm on Wi-Fi. I first thought it could come from my antivirus (Trend Micro v.16) but I couldn't find where it was coming from, the firewall settings seem to be the same; Then I thought it could come from Thunderbird, but I couldn't find that either. I had a similar issue when sending from Thunderbird using my LaPoste address with a Livebox connection. My solution: in account settings, add an outgoing server: smtp.orange.fr then in the main part of the account settings, choose the outgoing server created for the configuration with Livebox. And there you go!

Hello,  Someone thought they were doing the right thing by installing Thunderbird on my computer. I'm not a specialist at all and can't meet the person who must have made a big mistake. I have Windows Vista and I'm with Numéricable. I have 3 email accounts with la poste.net and 3 with Voila Mail.  It seems that Thunderbird accepts the postal services but not Voilà (that's what the specialist told me). So, I can already gather the 3 postal accounts into 1 but not those from Voilà.  That's what has been done, anyway.  NOW, here’s the PROBLEM. To my great anger, as these 3 boxes are very important to me (all my important emails go through there):   - I'm receiving messages in Thunderbird and I'm notified by a sound signal,  -but 1. the messages disappear from the "la poste" boxes, so if I'm out without my computer, I won't be able to consult them except for one where I just noticed that some messages stayed, 2.  I can't send messages from Thunderbird so I have to copy and paste the address of the message received in Thunderbird to then go directly to my La Poste inbox to draft and send a message, unless I have to go back to Thunderbird to reread the message while I'm drafting my message on La Poste!!!!!  That’s what has been done by so-called specialists!!!  However, these inboxes contain very important emails and I don't think uninstalling Thunderbird is a good solution (I have no idea how to do that, by the way) because I'm afraid of losing my emails and, on the other hand, I find Thunderbird quite user-friendly.  What should I do?  This is a real disaster because I had asked the person who proposed this, without me asking for anything by the way, if they were sure, insisting on the fact that these inboxes were the basis of all my activities!!! Hello,I had the same problem. My box got reconfigured and the filtering was blocking SMTP traffic that was different from my ISP's servers.Connect to your Livebox, Neufbox, or SFR box… it's often http://192.168.1.1 and look for a menu like filtering (be careful, there's a lot of stuff, if you don't know, don't touch anything). I know sometimes you need to be in expert mode.In any case, on SFR after logging in (admin admin; if not changed or press the button on the box for 5 seconds)then go to the network menu, then filtering and uncheck "Allow email to be sent only through SFR group's mail servers" I hope this helps you. Hello  I encountered the same problem as everyone else here during the migration from version 2 to version 3.  It seems that by default Thunderbird checks the box "Use a username and password" in the SMTP window. However, for the internet service provider, authentication does not seem to be necessary (they have the connection settings to know who is who).  So you need to: - for your internet service provider, uncheck this box: in Thunderbird, click on the name of the mailbox (left column) then go to "view settings for this account" then in "outgoing server (SMTP)" click on the server used and on edit then uncheck the box "Use a username and password"  - for other SMTP servers (Yahoo, Gmail, and others) keep the box checked  Good luck   PS: for the migration from version 2 to version 3, it is essential to uninstall all Logitech webcam software before the migration, then reinstall it afterwards. Incompatibility recognized by Logitech and the Thunderbird team.
