Thunderbird slow to receive messages from Gmail
SolvedAnonymous user -
Hello!
Recently, when I receive messages from GMail, they take a long time to display (the blue bar at the bottom right takes a long time to fill up). I have reinstalled Thunderbird to the latest version (making sure that all folders, even in Appdata, have been deleted), cleared the cache, restarted my connection, removed Thunderbird's security permission on Google and reactivated it afterwards, but nothing changes...
Even when I send messages to the trash in Thunderbird, the blue bar takes a really long time to move them all and indicates that it's downloading them, which is very slow to do.
On the other hand, my other account with Hotmail is fast; the reception is quick.
Are there any issues with the GMail server or is the problem elsewhere?
Thank you in advance for your help.

The issue might stem from the synchronization between Thunderbird and Gmail. Gmail uses IMAP by default to synchronize its emails with mail clients. It's a protocol that works continuously, meaning it constantly synchronizes the server with the client.
There could be a few solutions to your problem:
1. Check the IMAP settings in Gmail. Make sure that IMAP is enabled and see if you can modify certain settings to improve the synchronization speed.
2. Change the number of messages synchronized. Thunderbird synchronizes a certain number of messages at a time. If this number is too high, it can slow down reception. You can modify this in Thunderbird's synchronization settings.
3. Create a new profile. Your Thunderbird profile may be corrupted, which can affect performance. Try creating a new profile to see if that resolves the issue.
4. Contact Gmail support. If nothing works, there may be an issue with your Gmail account. In that case, it would be wise to contact Gmail support for assistance.
