Hello.

I just had an unfortunate accident, but it could have been much worse. Only one USB port is no longer working, but the entire computer could have been affected.
Let me explain:

I had an Arduino board connected to my computer, a programmable board for doing electronics for those who may not know.
I’ll spare you the details, but basically, I was testing a circuit to power LEDs at 19 volts with an external power supply, while the Arduino board was connected to my PC via USB, so at 5 volts.
Except that I probably made a wiring mistake somewhere, and the 19 volts ended up going through the Arduino board. It's obviously fried, but that's not the problem.
The problem is that my laptop immediately shut down. I managed to restart it, everything works except for the USB port that was connected to the Arduino.
It’s almost certain that the 19 volts had a little adventure in the USB port of my laptop.

This is where I come to you.
Do you think there’s a way for that port to function again?
Is it possible, for instance, that my computer simply disabled the port, but that it could be reactivated?
Or do you think the port is just dead?

I’m on Windows 10 and my laptop is an MSI GE73 Raider RGB 8RF.

Thank you.

Hi, 19V, that probably didn't do any good to the USB port, the controller, and the other components, but you can still check in the device manager if you have an error.

I went to check in the Device Manager > USB Controllers.
I don't know if the USB port in question was displayed because I can't identify them, however all the displayed ports never show any issues.
On the other hand, under > Ports (COM and LPT), COM6, which corresponded to what I was using with my Arduino board, does not appear.
Also, my USB ports have backlighting, and the one for the faulty USB port is still working.

You don't have any error codes or exclamation points next to a device?

No, I have neither error code nor exclamation point on any device whatsoever.

You can try clicking on search for hardware changes. However, it is possible that there is a hardware issue.

        No change in doing this.
I think my USB port is definitely dead.
But it's not a big deal, I bought a USB dock that I connect to my USB-C port that I never used.

Yes, I think it's out of order. If it's still under warranty, you can try to make it work.
