Chronological Order of Discussions in Messenger App on Smartphone Issues

Solved

Hello,

I am sending you this message because I am experiencing difficulties with the Messenger app.
The problem I am facing is that on my Messenger app, the messages are no longer arriving in chronological order. Conversations are stuck. Some of the most recent messages no longer appear at the top. Nevertheless, I receive all messages and can send them normally.
I feel like as soon as I open the notification bubbles, all the conversations shift and the most recent ones don't show up at the top of the contact list, but I have to scroll down further.
On Facebook, when I use Messenger, there are no issues; when I receive messages one after another, they appear in chronological order from newest to oldest on the contact list. I have tried several times to uninstall and then reinstall the app on my smartphone. This is problematic because there is a malfunction; it has been like this for a day. I am unable to find a solution. I feel like the problem really comes from the Messenger app on my smartphone.
Thank you in advance for your help.

Hello,
So, I uninstalled the Messenger app and instead, I installed Messenger Lite. It's the same kind of app and it takes up less space. I no longer have the problem I had with the Messenger app.

Hello. I have exactly the same issue as you. No matter which phones I connect to, my Messenger is no longer in order. Have you found a solution other than Messenger Lite? Because Messenger Lite doesn't display the chat bubbles at the top of the screen.
I even reset my phone to factory settings and nothing. However, when I log in with my partner's account on my phone, I don't have this problem. It's really just my Messenger account.
I look forward to hearing from you.

Good evening,

So far, I haven't found any other solutions. I installed Messenger Lite and it works well. I never understood why the regular Messenger app malfunctions like that.

It's true that there are a few downsides with Messenger Lite: no conversation bubbles on the main screen, no ability to reply to specific messages, or even react to a specific message. So, if I want to use those features, I regularly log into Facebook from my PC where it works. Since I often use Facebook on my computer, it doesn't bother me. I had the same scenario as you when I tried to set up my Messenger account on someone else's phone in my circle.

I did consider completely rebooting my phone, but I wasn't sure of the results. I talked about this issue with several people around me, and no one understands the malfunction. The main thing is that with Messenger Lite, it works well and there's no more chronological disorder, which was annoying. I would love to know one day why this problem exists, and I will try to keep discussing it with my circle, but for now, Messenger Lite is working well (despite its few flaws).

Have a good evening!

Hello, thank you for your response.
This malfunction happening overnight is truly incomprehensible. It occurred to me the very evening I had deleted three-quarters of my conversations, I was fed up with seeing the marketplace conversations taking up so much space.
When I log out and log back in, the app works but only for 2 minutes before acting up again.
I thought I was the only one because when I searched for forums to find a solution in December, I didn't find anything. Deep down, it reassures me to know I’m not alone after all.
If I find a solution by then, I'll let you know.
Wishing you all the best.

I also have this problem.. Maybe it's due to our cell phones. I have a Samsung A50, and you?

And the problem with Messenger Lite is that we can't link text messages and Messenger together.

So I would really like to find a solution!

Hello, I have a Samsung S8 and a Galaxy J5 as professional phones, and the problem is the same on both smartphones. However, when my partner logs into my phone, there are no issues.
I have tried everything. Resetting the phone and even the apps, etc.
I'm not a fan of Messenger Lite, but for now, it does the trick. I currently have no solution to provide you.

Hello, I'm sorry but it reassures me because I thought I was the only one in this situation. After installing and uninstalling countless times, my phone kept offering me a double messaging. I didn't know what it was at first, so I did nothing. One day, fed up, I first tried to duplicate Messenger but with no result. I tried duplicating Facebook and Messenger, and for now, my problem is solved, but I have to manipulate it to avoid being bothered by the chat bubbles or notifications. Anyway, I don't know if it will last long, or if it will eventually get messed up like before. For now, it works. So if this can help you.

To find it, go to your settings and look for double messaging. Once you're in, hide Facebook and Messenger, log in, and that's it.

PS: I have a Samsung S9.

Hello, for me too. Since 10 AM without any app update or anything. Hoping it stays that way.
Take care
