Hello,
my Epson WF Pro 5620 printer only prints the first 5 lines of the page and then shows error code 027.
My usual supplier thinks (over the phone) that it is due to the print head: cost €400!!
What should I do to try to resolve the error?
Thank you.

Hello,

The code written in the title is 097 and in the text it's 027... we need to provide the correct one.

Check it out on the Epson site http://www.errorepson.com/epson-wf-5620-error-code-0x97/

You shouldn't base a diagnosis on assumptions, especially for €400

Always check that and let us know.

Hello "jeannets" and thank you for your prompt response.
Indeed, the error code is 097.
I have tried the methods recommended in the Epson manual without success (except for the paper on the print head since it requires 24 hours).
I am still hopeful of saving €400.
Regards

Don't despair..!
You also need to be careful that this message doesn't come from the printer but from a malware that has the same error message presentation... the goal being for you to accept repair proposals or software that fixes everything... and in doing so, completely infect you...
Here is the same site in French http://problemeimprimante.com/erreur-0x97-epson-wf-3640/

And your printer's guide here https://download.epson-europe.com/pub/download/3782/epson378203eu.pdf

The error code 0x097 or 097 does not exist there, strange..?? It could also be a transmission error code.

-- If you turn off and unplug your printer for 5 minutes and then make a copy using only the printer buttons... what happens..??

-- Haven't you just changed a cartridge or two by any chance..??

--- What is the model of the computer..? its operating system..?? and version..??
-- Are you printing using PostScript..? for the fonts…
-- If you print 10 pages.. Does it print the first five lines of each page..?? or on the contrary, beyond the first page, does it stop printing completely...?? Or can it print the first five lines of a new page again in a few hours.?

These are all questions we can ask ourselves..??

I also noted on the Epson site for this printer updates from 2019, both for the drivers under Windows and for the printer's firmware itself, such as
FW_GM14I6.exe
for example.

Hello,

I have the same error code 097. I have tried all the possibilities. I noticed that I can unlock the printer when I run a head cleaning. But the error code 097 reappears with a complete blockage of the printer as soon as I print a document (copying, printing, faxing). I have the impression that this is due to the motherboard that blocks the print head as soon as it reads the chips from the ink cartridges.

I just went to the Epson website using the provided link for driver updates.
- for the drivers: installation OK
- for the firmware: installation KO, with the indication "lower upgrade (update impossible)" on the status. Although my printer appears, I cannot select it to update the firmware.

What can we do?

Good evening,
my computer is an iMac running on 10.8.5.
I haven't changed the ink cartridges in a long time.
If I print 10 pages, only the first 5 lines of the first page are printed and then the error code appears.
Similarly, if I make a copy, I get the first 5 lines and that's it.
I updated the driver with no results.
I'm starting to despair...
In any case, thank you for your help.

OK, that's a shame, it's a beautiful printer..!

And by chance, could the cartridges just be empty..?...

Just to remind you... The displayed level is not the ink level in the cartridge; there's no level sensor, just a page count... which is based on an average consumption per page.

-- In some cases, the cartridge doesn't contain the right amount of ink to begin with... or prints with a lot of solid color, as well as cleanings or unclogging nozzles, lead to higher than average consumption and empty the cartridges while the level indicator is still okay..

-- The idea would be to change the cartridges...

Yes, I found the solution after many unsuccessful attempts...
I bought an HP...
Since then, everything is working well...

Hello

Solution 1:
- Perform maintenance on the paper guide and adjust the head

Solution 2:
- Check that there are no foreign objects in the printer

Solution 3:
- Remove the cartridges
- Turn off and unplug the printer
- Press the "power" button for a few seconds
- Plug it back in, turn it on, and reinstall the cartridges

Solution 4:
- It could be a failure of the print head or the electronic board

Where can I find the paper guide functions and the head adjustment?
