DualShock 4 false contact

Hello,

I have an issue with a faulty connection on my PS4 controller, and I am looking for a solution that does not require purchasing a new controller or opening the current one. The bug in question can be seen in this video:
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=KGTb-h9l8X8&feature=youtu.be

In this video, I never direct the camera upwards myself
You can see that the camera sometimes tends to move up on its own, whether I touch the joystick or not. Notably, just gently resting my thumb on it without moving also causes the bug (see from 11 seconds onward).
I have tried using custom settings with the software built into Steam to configure the controllers (I modified the dead zone, among other things, to see what would happen), and it didn't help.

Are there any software tools available that allow for a more precise analysis of joystick behavior? (for example, to see which part of the joystick is affected when the camera moves on its own, etc.)

Thank you

    Hello,
When this problem occurs, does unplugging and replugging the controller fix the issue?
And at the moment the bug happens, do you not have a brief moment when the controller is unresponsive?

Have you tried another USB cable?

You can install the DS4Windows software. It is used for in-depth configuration of the controller.

You can see the joystick moving by going here:
Control Panel > Hardware and Sound > Devices and Printers > right-click on Wireless Controller (in my case, the controller is named this way but its name may vary) > Game Controller Settings > Properties
And there you will see the joystick axis.

Finally, all of this is if you are indeed on Windows, of course.

      Thank you for your response.
I will take a closer look at all of this tomorrow morning, but in the meantime:
No, unplugging/replugging does not fix the problem (even temporarily)
I only play wired (via USB cable).
And I don’t have a moment when the controller is unresponsive :3

      Well, I'm just too impatient.
So here is the result of DS4 and the properties of the controllers:

So the question is, is it possible to choose a deadzone so that it is around the point on the left on DS4?

And have you ever tried with another PS4 controller?

In the DS4 Windows software, you see this when you open it:

And by clicking on the Edit button to modify the base profile, you see this:

Then good luck configuring the controller manually; it doesn't seem simple, but at least it's comprehensive :) You might also adjust the "deadzone" under Windows settings, but I’ve never had to do it, so I don’t know how it works in your case; the best is for you to do your tests.

I've had this problem before, and I solved it by changing the USB cable because the one I had was faulty and caused a momentary disconnection, which meant that if the disconnection happened while I was pushing the stick in a direction, it stayed stuck as if pressed even when I was no longer touching the controller.

But since in your case it only happens when pushing up, it's more likely that it's a balancing issue and proper recognition of the controller.

I only have one controller, but I have several cables and it does that with all of them.
As I mentioned, I used DS4Windows to take my screenshot. The problem is that the configurable deadzone is only circular around the center. Hence my question, is there a way to configure a deadzone differently (around the area of the malfunction)?

I don't think we can make adjustments like that; it might risk making gameplay completely unstable. But if you find it works, great.

You could try with another PS4 controller.
If the bug doesn't occur with another one, you can conclude that your controller isn't working properly and therefore there's nothing to be done.
