Ethernet switch issue on wall-mounted RJ45 socket to connect 2 PCs

Hello,

We have an ethernet connection issue with our PCs. Let me explain.

We have 2 PCs in the office, there is only one RJ45 wall socket in our office, so we bought a switch (TP-link TL SG1005D). We have the box connected in another room in the electrical cabinet.

When we connect an ethernet cable from our box to the socket in the cabinet linked to the office, and connect an ethernet cable from the office socket to one PC, it works very well.

When we connect our switch directly to the box and our PCs to the switch, that also works very well.

However, when we connect the switch to the wall socket in the office (which is supposed to work) and our PCs to the switch, it doesn't work anymore.

Do you have any idea what is going on?

Thank you in advance!

Hi,
first, test all the cables one by one.
Then, there may be a defect in the wall socket that causes the auto-negotiation of the speed to be at 1 Gbit/s, but the gigabit isn't passing through.
Since the switch isn't manageable, it won't be easy to work around this; just check and redo the wiring of the socket at both ends.

And ... Voila!

Hello,
There must be a missing power socket connection.
The Switch is always connected to a power strip, and you need to check that the router is plugged in too.
Even if you connect the Switch to the router like this, the router is not plugged in, so it won't work.

Good evening,
Connect all the Ethernet cables to the switch.
On the switch there should be:
the router + PC1 + PC2.
And the switch is responsible for distributing the traffic.
The computers will be on the local network, so they will have access to the Internet and to the PCs on the local network
(from PC1 to PC2 and from PC2 to PC1 and to other PCs if there are any, they just need to be connected to the router: the box).

This means that the PC running the tracert is on the network and connected to the Internet and that the network configuration is correct.

To share a file on Windows 10: right-click, go to properties then sharing and follow the instructions.

To access this file from another PC, do: [Windows key]+r and type:
\\192.168.0.X (X being the last number of the target PC's address).

Connect all the Ethernet cables to the switch.
