Get the tilde character only

I want to get the tilde character by itself. I don't want to join it with other characters.
I use a QWERTY keyboard, with the French Canadian layout (Canadian Multilingual Standard).
I know I could have used a Portuguese keyboard, but I want to have this accent on the Canadian keyboard.
Has anyone ever found a solution to this?

Hello,

there's also charmap to copy/paste characters and access special characters graphically, it can be handy.

Press Windows + R
type charmap and hit OK.
You select the character, which you can then copy/paste.

Thank you for the info.
I want to be able to assign let's say (ALT(right) + Tilde) on the 'Microsoft Wedge keyboard' which happens to be the first key in the number row.
This way, I can quickly get the tilde without having to use Charmap.

If yes, the ~ is obtained by pressing the key to the right of the space bar and the cédille C key (to the left of "Enter")

This is not that keyboard.
The one I have is called ''Microsoft Wedge Mobile Keyboard''.
It does not have all those characters that you show on your keyboard.

Microsoft Wedge Mobile Keyboard, this keyboard is therefore the one extracted from the quick start guide

(click on the image to open it enlarged in a new tab)

The tilde key is to the left of 1 and should, unless I'm mistaken, be obtained by pressing shift then the said key

Since my keyboard is set up as French Canadian (Canadian Multilingual Standard), pressing the Shift + tilde key to the left of 1 generates the backslash symbol, which is '' \ ''.
Pressing the tilde key without Shift gives a normal forward slash '' / ''.

The key above Enter does what in lowercase and uppercase

Also see what it does with Alt (to the right of the space bar) pressed.

The key above Enter in lowercase = à, in uppercase = À.
With right ALT no character is generated.

The keyboard, as far as the printing is concerned, is indeed identical to the one in my message
the key, tested, above Enter, is indeed the one, the furthest to the right that has the signs | and \ ====>

During the installation, what language is set by default...?
Because setting "Standard Canadian Multilingual" on a keyboard whose prints do not match... is courting significant problems

A priori the keyboard is a standard American keyboard

Since I am in Canada, I decided in the Windows 10 settings to use the Canadian standard on my computer. It seems that we can install other keyboards and select whatever we want to use. Indeed, when we choose ENG (English Canadian) - we can get the tilde. So, from what I understand and have tested, it is impossible to obtain the tilde if you do not have a numeric keypad - to generate the tilde character differently and even less so on the keyboard I installed. Thank you anyway for trying to help me.

Changing the language used for the keyboard has no effect on the key labeling of the keyboard; however, it positions the characters as if your keyboard were designed for the chosen language model.
Basically, this complicates things quite a bit...

That said, since the tilde is present on both types of keyboards, you should normally find it on one of the keys with the multilingual Canada layout.

I searched a lot and managed to find out how to generate the tilde.
You have to press simultaneously the right Alt key and the right parenthesis key }.
Then release those keys and press the spacebar.
I thought I could do this with just two keys, unfortunately.
I hope I have helped those who use this kind of keyboard - to obtain the character.

So on the key above the Enter key but not the farthest right...
Right Alt + } and space, that's only 3 keys... it's not a big deal...
Note that to type the tilde on the N for example: Ñ you will need to do Right Alt + } then Shift + N
