Hello,
I just bought an EasyCap (USB 2.0 Video Grabber, CSL) supplied with Honestech VHS to DVD 2.0 SE software. I expected to have some issues, no sound, black and white image, or jumping, etc., but I'm not even there yet... In fact, at the moment, the software doesn't even recognize the VHS, just a black screen, nothing at all... The same goes for DVDs... I only have a VHS player, a Thomson, NTSC Playbac, PAL SECAM, in perfect working order. I am using Windows 10.
I've searched quite a bit online, my connections are fine, and the software configuration is too. I've tested several SCART connections and AV cables with the three colored plugs... I don’t understand where the problem could come from. I've read several threads on the forum where others have the same issue as me, but often it seems like it's never been resolved...
Is there a solution? A special setting (even if normally everything seems fine on that side)? Change the VCR (although it also doesn't work with the DVD player)? Use different software, and if so, which one?
I really want to digitize my VHS without spending a fortune, even if the quality isn't great...
Thank you in advance!

The most well-known problem is extracting sound and video from the video recorder. Personally, I reversed the wiring of a SCART cable by looking up the diagram online. Otherwise, I saw that on Amazon or elsewhere, there were SCART adapters that allow you to reverse the input and output of audio and video signals. You also have the option in your software interface to select the composite option under the OEM device tab, which means the audio-video cable, or the other option which is the RCA input. Then, you will need to select the type of video from your tapes, either PAL or SECAM, and the various options, at the risk of ending up with a black and white image or horrible colors. Yes, transferring from analog to digital requires patience and some technical knowledge.
