"Contacts has stopped" and unable to call

Hello,

I can no longer display my contacts or make calls. I get a message saying "contacts keep stopping."
It happened all of a sudden...
I cleared the cache and restarted, but it didn't work.
Does anyone have any idea about this issue?
I have a Samsung J7 (2016).

    hello

    often due to a sync issue. so go to settings then account, press on your google account and delete it. then restart your phone and re-add your google account preferably over wifi.

      In the meantime, I was given a solution: backing up my contact and message data on my PC via Smart Switch and a complete reset of the phone.
      It worked.
