Hello everyone,
since yesterday at 5:54 PM, my ASUS ZenFone 3 ZE520KL has stopped turning on and won't charge. Yet, it worked fine all day.
I haven't made any changes (software or hardware) just before this problem, and the phone hasn't suffered any damage right before this issue (drop or contact with water).
Following the troubleshooting guides available on the ASUS website, I performed the following actions:
I would like to clarify that the screen does not display anything and there are no indicators (red, orange, or green light).
I also disconnected the battery and reconnected it to the motherboard, but it didn't help either.
Can you provide me with a solution to my problem for a phone that is only a year old?
Thank you in advance for your response.

- I pressed and held the power button for 15 seconds ► the device did not turn on and there was no vibration.
- I plugged the device into a power outlet with the wall adapter and the original USB cable ► the charging indicator does not light up, and the phone does not turn on even after being connected for more than an hour.
- I tested with another original ASUS charger ► no change
- I connected the device to a laptop ► no change
- I pressed and held the volume down button and the power button ► the device did not turn on and there was no vibration.

Hello, try this:
Plug the device into a power source (if you have the choice for reasons that escape me, the computer is more efficient). Leave it plugged in without doing anything for at least 5 minutes, then press the Power/Lock button simultaneously with another button for AT LEAST 2 MINUTES. If nothing happens, it means it's not working.
Here are the different combinations:
1)) Power/Lock button + the bottom of the volume button
(volume -), then release the Power/Lock button first.
2)) Power/Lock button + the top of the volume button
(volume +), then release the Power/Lock button first.
3)) Power/Lock button + the central main button located at the bottom of the screen, then release the Power/Lock button first.
If you get to this point, the first step is the system reboot:
The last resort:
Plug the device in (the computer is always potentially better). After it has been left for at least 5 minutes, hold it down for 5 minutes (this is not an exaggeration, it’s really a long time), which will allow the phone to get a little charge and restart on its own or not!

Please keep me updated => “Still stuck” “It’s resolved thanks to/Because I found out it was necessary”
because I often have several steps and always one trick up my sleeve!!!

Hello,
I think the phone is toast because certain components of the battery and the screen must have been damaged.
However, I advise you to leave your phone off for a few days and see if it turns back on.
Otherwise, that means it's done for, and if you have a warranty, I recommend sending your device to customer service.

A friend who works in IT told me that this could also be due to a system update that encountered problems.
Is that possible?
I also thought about a problem with the power connector. If the battery were completely empty and charging was impossible, the laptop would be in the same situation, right?
Regarding the warranty, it is indeed still covered by the ASUS manufacturer warranty for a duration of 2 years.
The problem is that it's been a few months (almost 4 months), and I had the screen of the phone (which was cracked) replaced by an independent repairer. I think the manufacturer will tell me that the phone has been opened and that they won't apply the warranty anymore, even though the malfunction doesn't come from that.

"A computer scientist friend of mine told me that it could also be due to a system update that encountered problems.

If so, have you noticed any system updates during usage?
However, I think that given what you describe, it is more likely that this is due to the accident.
"I did not make any modifications (software or hardware) just before this problem, and the phone did not experience any damage just before this issue (such as a drop or contact with water)."
After dropping your phone, did it still work or not?
Also, under what circumstances did this accident occur, and what degree of contact with water was there?
Moreover, if it has been disassembled and replaced with parts that may not be original, if so, it is highly likely that Asus will void the warranty by informing your seller's customer service and will charge you additional repair fees for changing the motherboard (unless they are original parts and the device has been properly disassembled and reassembled with all screws), which would obviously make you lose all your data.

Thank you so much, I had the same problem and I wasn't holding it down long enough to get it started. I was ready to go to the supplier to activate the warranty.
Yes, there has been an update to the system in the past few days (there are regular updates from ASUS).
Regarding your second question, yes, it was still working. It fell to the ground at the beginning of the year. It slipped out of my hands as I was getting out of my car in a parking lot.
Just to clarify, it had a tempered glass screen protector, but it fell on a side that was not protected by it (the screen is slightly curved on the edges). This caused two cracks under the tempered glass.
Since that fall and even before, I have never had any issues with this phone. There has never been contact with water.
Unfortunately, manufacturers do not cover screen breakage under warranty (I tried). For mobile phones, often the only option left is independent repair shops.
The replacement part is an original part. The repairman is in contact with the same supplier as the ASUS factories.
As a point of clarification, the seller of my phone is also the manufacturer ^^.
The phone has been properly reassembled with all the parts, but by reading the warranty on the ASUS website, it clearly states that "This warranty does not apply to software errors or damages caused by the user as well as in one or more of the following cases: (a) The product has been altered, repaired and/or modified by unauthorized persons."

Hello,
If the accident happened before the smartphone broke down, then in my opinion, it has no link.
"The replacement part is an original part. The repairer is in contact with the same supplier as the ASUS factories."
That's a good thing; I think the warranty is valid if it is still applicable.
To clarify, the seller of my phone is also the manufacturer ^^.
It is either a software issue, and only customer service can help you with that since they are the only ones with the right program for your problem (which is recurrent on a smartphone)
or a physical issue, in which case I invite you to visit this link and get back to us:

link for issues with Zenphone 2.

Hi everyone, I have the same problem that I solved, so it's really simple: turn off the phone and press and hold the volume up and power buttons (basically, buttons 1 and 3 from the top). A black screen will appear with three options; select the third one titled "Normal Boot." The phone will reboot, and voilà, the bug is gone.
If the phone has no battery and won't turn on, perform this procedure with the charging cable, and after a while, it will work.

You're a pro!

This will display the illustration or directly perform a "reboot system" = complete restart. Theoretically, 30 seconds is more than enough.
Other combinations:
4)) Central general push button located at the bottom of the screen + the bottom of the volume button (volume -), then release the central button first.
5)) Central general push button located at the bottom of the screen + the bottom of the volume button (volume +), then release the central button first.
It can also be done with 3.
6)) Power/Lock + central general push button + (volume -).
7)) Power/Lock + central general push button + (volume +).
=> To check according to the models. This is specified in the user manual. Paper versions are rather rare now: Darty offers it for certain models in PDF after the technical specifications; the manufacturer's website etc.).
