Keyboard and mouse inactive after startup Solved

Question

Well... usually I manage to handle it when I have a problem with my machine, but this time I don't understand anything, let me explain: This morning I was on my PC, I wasn't doing anything special, and suddenly my screen froze. I waited a bit thinking it would pass ( spoiler: it didn’t) so I restarted it and once on the login screen my mouse was stuck in the middle of the screen and my keyboard wasn't responding. I rebooted in safe mode, same result... I went to check in the BIOS, keyboard and mouse detected To summarize, my peripherals work at the beginning of the startup and in the BIOS, but once on the login screen, nothing works. (More specifically, at the moment when the Windows logo appears, I can see it on the keyboard as the LEDs turn off on the keyboard and mouse) My config: Processor: Intel Core i5 3570 3.4GHz Motherboard: Asus P8B75-V Graphics card: Asus GTX660 RAM: Corsair Vengeance 8GB (2 x 4GB) 1600 MHz C9 HDD: WD 1TB (x2) OS: Windows 7 If you need more info, feel free to ask Edit: Of course I tested my peripherals on another machine, they work, and I tested all my USB ports, same result every time.

Well, let's check the BIOS.  You should have an option to reset the BIOS values to zero, do that and then check that the option enabling USB devices on boot is activated (I forgot the exact name ...)   -- fhppbpibapeh-9fpoh Okay, the keyboard works, perfect.

Sure, let's try the most classic approach.  At startup, tap F8 to access the advanced boot options and try a system restore from a later restore point.  If you need more information on how to proceed, don't hesitate to reply. Next one, then.  We're going to try to verify the system files, the last resort before a Windows repair (which is normally done from the desktop, we'll have to think about that)  Still from the advanced boot options (F8), open the command prompt.  In the window that appears, type the command sfc /scannow /offbootdir=[DRIVELETTER]:\ /offwindir=[DRIVELETTER]:\windows where [DRIVELETTER] is the letter of the drive where Windows is located (usually C:, without the []).  A system reboot may be necessary.  Before stressing over a system repair, I'm going to do some research to restore some settings from a live CD, I'll keep you posted. Let's continue here,  The BSOD (***STOP: 0x0000007B (0xFFFFF880009A97E8, 0xFFFFFFFFC0000034, 0x0000000000000000, 0x0000000000000000) was "resolved" by changing the SATA disk read mode from IDE to AHCI in the BIOS.  So you're saying that safe mode allows you to access the login screen and log in, which means the keyboard and mouse are working (if I understood correctly)  Let's see how a normal boot goes.  -- fhppbpibapeh-9fpoh Ok, the keyboard works, perfect.

Press the Enter key on these 2 faulty controllers and in the Drivers tab, choose Uninstall. Check the box that appears in the small window and restart the PC again.  Check if the mouse works and if not, check in the manager if they are "down" again  fhppbpibapeh-9fpoh Ok, the keyboard works, perfect.
