Home cinema 5.1 philips CSS5530 BASS BOX ISSUE

Hello,
I recently bought a 5.1 CSS5530B/12 home theater system and I’m having an issue with the wireless subwoofer on TV channels where people are talking—the subwoofer crackles! Very annoying, it feels like something is scratching inside the subwoofer? On the other hand, as soon as there are musical sounds the subwoofer stops crackling or maybe less?
This is very bothersome, we hear it as soon as people are speaking and there’s no background music, for example conversations, speeches.. etc.
Is it a manufacturing defect? a wifi problem? the subwoofer indicator is solid white, I’ve pressed the reset button on the back of the subwoofer several times but still the same issue….
I’ve plugged the Freebox into the central bar input with an HDMI cable and the output to my TV with another HDMI cable.
Is there a setting on my Freebox to adjust?
Is there a setting on the subwoofer to adjust? The subwoofer is in the right corner of my room about 4 m from the bar; I tried moving it closer, thinking distance might be the issue, but no, nothing!
I hope you can help me quickly or I’ll return it because I’m very disappointed by this problem, even though the rest sounds pretty good, it hits hard!

Thanks in advance for your help
Arnaud

    Hello,

Free only provides stereo sound on ADSL channels, so on a 5.1 with stereo sound it’s mediocre (well, with Free)

Try, if you have an antenna cable and depending on your box, to scan for channels in DVB-T.
Your box then becomes a simple "DVB-T decoder", and thus provides the channels from the DVB-T network, with the original sound according to the program.

Let me know if your sound problem persists on the DVB-T network?

    Hello,

Thank you for your response. I just tried but the problem persists... I tried to set the home to stereo mode but it's still the same. I hope we will find a solution, it’s very painful. Thanks anyway. Is there a setting on the Free (box) to reduce the bass when changing the frequency maybe? And could it be possible by changing the Freebox WiFi channel?

    Merci

Try another device to see if the sound has the same problem. (tablet, PC, phone or other)

To find out whether it comes from the box or your home theater

We can already say that there is a good chance it comes from the home cinema: either the signal is disturbed, or the subwoofer is too far (see recommendation in the manual), or a setting, or the subwoofer has a problem and that is guaranteed.

        > First, check the sound settings of the home cinema: the sound settings themselves, but also the distance of the speakers. (pages 11 and 12 of the manual)
        > Test your subwoofer at 1 or 1.5 meters from the central bar.
        > Then if something is disturbing: disable the other devices you have and test.
        > Try on another power outlet (in case you have 50 devices on the same outlet)

        ...

Eventually we’ll manage to pinpoint this problem ;-)

        Hello

Sorry for replying only now but I’ve tried everything and I can’t find any solution...
The only thing is that I sent back my home theater for an exchange
        Thank you for your help
        Have a good evening

        You’re welcome ;-)

Yes, if nothing changes, look into the return under warranty, but contact customer service first to follow the correct procedure for the return.
Or perhaps they’ll have a solution.
