Hello,
I have a small problem since this morning.
If I don't put a tape in, the cassette compartment of my Canon MV800 camera closes normally.
But when I put a tape in, the compartment doesn't even go in; it immediately ejects the tape!
I have tried several tapes, but none work!
Do you have any idea how to solve my problem?
Thank you in advance!

Hello everyone, same issue with my MV800 camera. Without a cassette, the case closes, but with a cassette, it won’t go in.
I’ve tried Pat the Fool's method, it's awesome, it works, thank you!

Solution "remove cassette"
Hello,
As promised, here’s the workaround my father used to fix this issue.
It seems almost too simple, so I hope it works for all of you...
First, here’s the model of the camcorder
http://servimg.com/index.php?noimg=1&lang=en&k=136
He then simply ejected the cassette compartment to access
the two parts marked by a red circle.
Using a small tool (small screwdriver or something), he turned the roller (left circle)
and also moved the little "doohickey" (right circle).
http://servimg.com/index.php?noimg=1&lang=en&k=136
After that, he put in a cassette and voilà, the camcorder accepted it
Since then, no more issues...
So, thank you for posting if it works for you too.
See you (°-°)

I OWN THE HV 20 CAMERA, SAME PROBLEM, THE CASSETTE REFUSED TO GO DOWN AFTER SEVERAL ATTEMPTS. MIRACLE, IT WORKS THANKS TO YOUR FATHER, HE SAVES ME? ON THE OTHER HAND, CANON IS DONE FOR ME, IT'S SCANDALOUS,
I just made another attempt, my camcorder works again thanks to the internet, AND YOU, it saves me money, I spent a week looking for the problem, phew. I'm coming back to life, thank you again but you have to be patient and try several times.

Hi,
same problem with my Canon MV850i, I took it apart but didn’t see anything special!!
I had given up, then after 6 months I started looking at it again and I found that by inserting the cassette (push) and tapping a little on the back (on the battery) it works, an unusual method but hey!!
So there it is, if others want to try, you never know, it might work with a bit of luck
bye

I have the same problem with my Canon MV850i: when the compartment is empty and I press "PUSH", the compartment goes in without any issues, but when a cassette is inside, I press "PUSH", the compartment closes for a few seconds and then opens again.
I tried to close it while simultaneously pulling on the small black click that Canon recommended touching: the compartment closes with the cassette inside as if it accepted it, but when I turn it on, the "No cassette" symbol (crossed cassette) flashes red.
I tried giving it one, then several taps on the battery, shaking it a little and a lot, and I even resigned myself to dropping it from about fifteen centimeters (onto a carpet) but nothing works. I touched the rollers, left and right, the small click, in one direction and then the other... Nothing works.
Could someone describe their method more precisely? Maybe I did it wrong...
Thank you.

Hello,
I just got back from vacation with good news. My father, that hero, who only went to school until his twelfth year, repaired the camcorder through observations, handling, and deduction. Apparently, the repair is easy; you just need to disassemble a part to get to the heart of the problem (there's a lot to say about repair workshops too, but anyway...).
I haven't had the time yet, but as soon as possible, I'll ask him to explain the procedure to me in detail
and I'll take pictures to post...
I'm still quite upset with Canon and am waiting for any suggestions on how to collectively let them know...
See you very soon (°-° )

Hello,
I've been experiencing the same "remove cassette bug" with my Canon MVX100i camera for over 2 years; I thought I was the only one. I tried to have it repaired, but the cost is equal to that of a new camera. Seeing that so many of us are lamenting the same issue, I conclude that we are all being scammed by CANON. It is not at all a coincidence that after a while of use, all these cameras have the same problem and that the cost of repair encourages buying another one. I am completely willing to participate in an action so that all these victims are compensated.
This is not a normal malfunction; it seems more like a deliberate design - This system appears to be designed so that after a certain number of cassette loads, it becomes defective.

Hello,
I just realized that I am part of the very open club of “pigeons canon.” Indeed, my MV 800 camcorder has been refusing the tapes I offer it, whether new or already recorded, for the past fifteen days. With the same message "white cross in a red circle" "please remove the tape."
I have not made more than 10 tapes with this device. (less than 10 hours of recording).
I am not a whiz at computers, but if someone creates a collective, I am ready to participate actively. I also own a digital reflex camera EOS 300D for which I cannot obtain a driver from CANON for Windows Vista to replace the one I have for Windows XP.
Today, I am sending an email to CANON to express my strong dissatisfaction and my resolution to no longer purchase products from their brand.

Check if there's simply something that has fallen into the cassette compartment or something that has come loose in the device and could have moved, thus blocking the cassette space.

Hello.
I have been affected by this issue since last summer. The only workaround that allows me to continue using the camcorder is to tap quite vigorously behind the battery during the cassette insertion phase. For me, it works every time.
Good luck.
See you.

Grand thanks to my friend Canonmerci who, thanks to his tip, helped me put a tape back in my Canon MVX 200i; see you!
So what's new, apparently some of them are working again!!! I'm about to buy a new one because I want to be able to watch my tapes!!!!
HELP!!!!!!!!!!
HELP!!!!!!!!!!
I also experienced the same problem with this type of device. My MV 700 didn't recognize the tapes; it would eject them directly, even though it hadn't been used for more than 30 hours. I consulted Canon in Vannes, who gave me a repair estimate of around 200 euros, claiming it was a mechanical issue. So for me, it was done for... A little while later, having given it to my young children between 3 and 8 years old, who played with the camera for several weeks, I plugged it back in, and magically, it read the tapes... phew, it was working again! It was when I really needed it at a concert and wanted to charge it that it started acting up again, and in a fit of rage, I dropped it... intentionally, at least then I know it's truly broken and I know why... In any case, given the previous posts, I wouldn't recommend anyone invest in this brand, which seems very unreliable in my eyes! CANON is not CANON, far from it!
I recommend JVC, Samsung, Sony...
In any case, if someone is interested, it's for sale on eBay for 1 euro starting price... I don't think it's about the price of the connectors, nor the price of the battery, but at least it might be useful to a handyman who is certainly more patient than me... that's a very Canon price anyway!

Hi there.
Well, I got infected this summer, while out biking with my wife and kids!
The pain, it seems to me, appears after a more or less rough use. So tonight, I treated the pain with more pain.
I took my camcorder and dropped it 3 or 4 times from a height of 30 to 40 cm onto my pillow.
Result, luck or not, it’s working again!
That's what I found. Every time, it works, but it can take more or less time!
On that note, good luck.

Hello,
I had the same problem with my Canon MV900i, with a message to remove the cassette, following a fall of my camcorder from a height of about 2m. I tried all the tricks, but nothing worked. I took it to a repair shop, and it turned out that the mechanical system of the tray was damaged. It cost me 80 euros for the repair, and now, for the past 2 months, there have been no problems; it's working perfectly.

Hello,
Same here, the compartment closes very well without the cassette, but as soon as I put it in its compartment, the camcorder starts beeping and does not accept the tape. It's a Canon MV850I that has been very lightly used and looks like a camcorder that just came out of the box because I have taken such good care of it. I haven't even made 5 video recordings. I am not really keen on paying for repairs for something that has a known issue (Nikon offers support for this, taking the D70 even out of warranty), especially since many of us are facing this problem. What’s the status of the anti-Canon collective? Because you have one more member... PS: I work for a subsidiary of Auchan, and with a bit of luck, I might be able to obtain some contact details...

Hello
Question: have you always used the same cassettes or have you mixed Sony cassettes with cassettes from other brands?
Regarding Canon and particularly the MVX series, the issue is known. It is said to be due to mixing Sony "PREMIUM" cassettes with cassettes from other brands. Why? Because Sony uses a so-called "wet" lubricant, while other brands use a so-called "dry" lubricant.
When the two lubricants mix, a deposit forms on the camcorder heads. The result is either a message asking to eject the cassette, a loss of time code on the recording, or streaks on the images (different from dropouts).
The advice given in this case is to clean the heads with a cleaning cassette, but for no more than 5 seconds, to avoid damaging the heads. Then, choose one brand of cassettes and stick to it.
EDIT: This lubricant mixing problem is an issue for all DV camcorders. Some say that Canon is more sensitive to it. It is difficult to prove.

I also had this problem with a Canon MVX250i (already sent for repair under warranty for another issue: cassette block refusing to open...). For a month now, I've been trying occasionally, just in case it was in a better mood. The FNAC customer service told me it would cost a minimum of €250 with Canon support. I tried the troubleshooting steps described in this forum with no result...
Then tonight, I tried something different: I dropped it from 7-8 centimeters to give it a wake-up call, and it's working again (with all my tapes, Sony Premium or Maxell)!!
It's a bit of a last-ditch effort, I admit. I always take great care of my equipment, but it doesn't seem to work like that with Canon!
I’m going to quickly try to burn some DVDs before it starts acting up again.
No chance I'm leaving Nikon for photography, and there's no way I'm going back to a Canon camcorder...

Same. A little slap on the back of the device and it works again. Not even 10 hours of recording before the problem appears!
Well, if it works for 10 hours of recording I'll be happy lol!!
With a bit of luck we can do the manipulation again and it will work again
let's hope it holds up for the snow season! It's going to be awesome lol
bye everyone
