VHS-C tape playback issue

Hello,
I have two VHS-C tapes that I want to play with my VCR.
I bought an adapter:
"VHS-C Cassette Adapter VCON 100BK"
I insert the tape. I then put the cassette in the VCR, the tape plays. I hear the sound and see the image. It stops after a few seconds and then rewinds, probably the part played by the VCR. Where could the problem be?
I can also play VHS tapes.
Thank you for your help.

Hello and welcome to this forum,

Try to do a quick winding and rewinding several times

    Thank you.
I just did 3 windings and 3 rewinds. It doesn't change anything. The image and sound come in and it stops after 2 to 3 seconds.

Damn, maybe the adapter is to blame? I'm stumped and I'll pass my turn to the buddies

    Hello,
maybe your cassette is defective, it seems that your tape player is going into safety mode because it's straining the tape in your cassette... hypothesis.. ;)
    Catch you later!

I play the role of Cassandra; magnetic tapes are not eternal. One should have anticipated and backed up their content digitally if it was deemed valuable.
