Hello everyone,
A friend entrusted me with her PC for some minor task manager issues upon shutdown.
After cleaning the said PC thoroughly with Adwcleaner, Malwarebyte, and other Ccleaner, I find myself unable to set Google Chrome as the default browser; -
Edge is specified as "Recommended for W10"; -
In the default settings, I can choose Chrome, but once clicked, it does not activate.
If I go through:
Well, in the left pane I don't have the option; -
Google Chrome does not appear; -
If I select Edge and check the associations, there are 3 checked boxes (under Protocols) that cannot be unchecked: https, Microsoft-Edge, and Read.
Do you have a solution to my problem, please?
Google hasn't been much help this time; -
Thanks in advance.

Thank you for the intervention.
But I eventually found the right procedure:
Control Panel => Default programs => Set your default programs and computer access settings => Custom => Browser => Check Google
It's still a bit heavy-handed for M$ to insist on imposing its browser, despite all the complaints it has received ;-\
Thanks again.
