Google Chrome searches using Yahoo Solved/Closed

Question

Hello,

Recently, Google Chrome (version 15.0.874.106 m) has been suggesting that I do my searches (in the address bar) through Yahoo while I would prefer to do them via Google.

I then performed the following action: Customize and configure Google Chrome (the little wrench icon) => Options => Search => Then I changed Yahoo to Google. On the same page, in "Manage search engines," I delete Yahoo, yet as soon as I close Chrome and reopen it to do a search, it’s a search suggested by Yahoo.

How can I remove Yahoo searches from Google Chrome to only perform searches via Google?

Hello, I succeeded (after many failures and being misled by the sales and technical services of Yahoo France):

Go to Options - "manage search engines" - Other search engines.

1- In "add a search engine": enter "Google"
2 -In "keyword": enter "Google"
3 -In "URL with %s as the query": enter "http://www.google.fr/search?source=ig&hl=en&rlz=&q=%s"
4. Once created, you can choose this engine as the default engine (the option appears when you hover over it). Do it: it moves up in the box above next to Yahoo!
5. Yahoo! no longer being the default search engine, you can then remove it by clicking on "X". Don't hesitate to do so!

do you have a Yahoo toolbar installed on your computer? Often this kind of junk installs itself automatically. Try checking your list of programs!

Hello,Unfortunately no, I don't have a Yahoo toolbar installed. I don't understand why Yahoo defaults to being set each time I log back in, even though I remove it in the options.

Hello, Go to (the little wrench) then Options, then Search, then Manage search engines... then on Google click on use by default, then delete Yahoo, restart your PC and see if that works.  :-)

Hello,

I advise you to first download all these programs before uninstalling Google Chrome.

*You can save your bookmarks check: here

*Download Revo Uninstaller: here and uninstall Google Chrome in advanced mode.

*Download CCleaner: here install it (uncheck the installation of a toolbar) then launch it and hit analyze then at the end of the scan click on clean then go to Registry click on find errors then at the end of the scan click on fix selected errors and restart the PC.

*Download Malwarebytes anti-malware: here install it then launch it and perform a full scan then restart the PC.

*Download Google Chrome: here and restart your PC then check if Google Chrome is working well.

PS: don't forget to clean with CCleaner once a week.

Yes, I have the same problem. In the meantime, I advise you:

- right-click on the search engine bar
- "Edit search engines..."
- in: Default search options -> on Google Chrome click on "default search engine"
- remove "yahoo"

However, it automatically reinstalls itself, and I don't have a solution for that...

After getting frustrated with Yahoo, I accidentally ended up deleting Google...
So if someone has a solution for me at:

Hello Here is the solution, Go to: C:\Program Files\Common Files\Spigot\SearchSettings You will find an XML file named yahoo_***.xml It should normally work, good luck

You need to go to "Settings -> On startup -> Open a specific set of pages -> Set of pages"
remove Yahoo and add Google, or the search engine you want to use.
Then still in settings "Appearance -> Show Home button -> Change"
you set it to Google again.
Then again in settings "Search -> Manage search engines"
and set it to Google.

There you go! It's very easy to do!

I had the same problem and no matter what I tried, nothing worked T_T But I found THE solution ^^
Simply go to "Start", search for "Uninstall a program", then click on "Yahoo search" and uninstall it, it worked for me ^^

A few days ago, I reviewed all your messages and I did everything that was suggested, but I can't get rid of this Yahoo, and I'm fed up. I uninstalled Google and then reinstalled it, it worked, but the next day it came back. I sent a message to Google but received no response.

Hello. This just happened to me and personally I did as Ese said on February 22, 2014 at 11:50

I suggest the method in images:

1/ Launch Google Chrome;
- Click on the 3 little lines at the top right of your window.
- Click on "Settings"

2/ Click on "Set Pages"

3/ Remove Yahoo and set Google. https://www.google.fr/?gws_rd=ssl then click "OK"

4/ Go to the "Show Home Button" tab and click on "edit"

Then put the address https://www.google.fr/?gws_rd=ssl and click "OK"

5/ Click on the "Manage Search Engines..." button and set Google.

To set Google manually:
Field 1 "Google"
Field 2 "Google"
Field 3 "https://www.google.fr/search?source=ig&hl=fr&rlz=&q=%s"
Click on "Use by default"
Click on "OK" And restart Google Chrome and you're all set :-).

P.s : I hope this method will help more than one just as it helped me. If the problem persists (which I doubt) a thorough cleanup is in order. Ccleaner, Malwarebytes Anti-Malware, A little touch of Anti-Virus etc...)

Hello!

For my part, the manipulation was as follows:
1. Go to the "Settings" in Google Chrome.
2. There is a "Search" section, below which it says "Manage search engines," click on it.
3. A small window appears where it says "Default search engine settings" followed by a list of search engines.
4. I deleted all of them except "Google."

Problem solved! (at least for me!)
