External hard drive causing the computer to crash

Hello, I will explain my problem which is as follows; I connected my hard drive to my school's desktop computer, I was able to perform tasks without any issues for about 20 minutes, then the computer crashed, at least I can no longer use the drive. After this general crash of the computer, I went to restart the tower.

Upon restarting, the computer took about 15 minutes to shut down (which is very abnormal) and my drive was no longer detected. The internet connection was not working either.

I then decided to plug the drive into another person's PC nearby, but the same thing happened, the drive caused the computer to crash and the connection, and moreover, it was not detected by the computer.

I really need this drive, thank you in advance for your responses ^^.

Configuration: Windows / Chrome 55.0.2883.87

    Hello, your hard drive may be infected.
    Did you buy it recently? And where?

      I bought it about 5 months ago, in a reliable store (Microcity, a High Tech store in Brussels). I think it’s very unlikely that it's infected because I haven't used it at home and I had just plugged it in. ^^

      In that case, it might be the type of computer at your establishment that does not support the format of your hard drive.
      What is the brand and operating system of the computers in question?
      Can you also check the properties of your hard drive for its format?

      I have a 64-bit Windows 7 at home and at school, but the thing is that the hard drive was working at school but now it’s not responding at all.

      I can't access the properties of the disk, in fact, I can't access anything related to the disk :/

    @soudimane, if you haven't tested the HDD with another USB cable yet, I suggest you do so :) In any case, the behavior the HDD is exhibiting is not a good sign. Sometimes such situations can result from a certain weakness in the hardware.

    I assume you don't have a backup of your content on other storage devices. If that's the case, try accessing it through a Linux Live CD (but definitely test another compatible USB cable as well).

    By the way, are you able to access Disk Management when the external HDD is connected to the PC? If so, pay attention to the information displayed about this HDD and please post a screenshot here :)

    Once the data is recovered, we could think about diagnosing the HDD. If you decide to post a screenshot here, make sure it doesn't contain any personal data (like the HDD's serial number, for example).

      I indeed haven't tested the hard drive with another cable. And I don't have backups of my content but I'll try to check that on a Linux at home. I will keep you updated ^^

      For the "Disk Management," it is not displayed there, but when I went to "My Computer," I saw a local drive H that I cannot access (at least it crashes the PC when I click on it). ^^'

    By the way, what do you see in Disk Management? If there is a local drive H: in Computer, this H: hard drive should also be in Disk Management. Is there any unallocated space or in RAW? Could you post a screenshot here, please (with the hard drive connected to the PC) :) I would like to take a look.     @soudimane, always remember to have a backup copy of your important content stored elsewhere, on another storage medium.
