Hello,
I have an inkjet printer (Epson Stylus SX510W) that works well. But when I use A4 perforated paper (4 holes), nothing prints. Is there a way to fix this?
Thank you for getting back to me.

The paper presence sensor must detect the perforations..
Check if you have an option to print on transparent media in A4. If so, select this media and test.
But be careful, if you have ink that falls into the holes, you will stain the paper path and all the sheets may have marks on the back later on. And it's extremely difficult to get rid of. -
Thank you Contrariness for responding.
I don't have an option to print on transparent media, however I can print on glossy paper or photos. I tried glossy paper, but it didn't change anything, the sheet comes out unprinted.
Furthermore, I made sure to check the margins, but since the sheet comes out completely blank, the problem isn't there.
It's clear that it's the paper presence sensor that detects the perforations... but what to do?-
You need to trick the printer..
Use "removable" (blue box from Scotch) adhesive to attach a strip of paper under the sheet so that the two sheets pass through together without being able to separate.
On small printers, there is no double-sheet detection.. it should work
Or use regular sheets and punch them afterwards. -
Hello,
that's pretty bad advice... If it peels off when passing through the paper, it's a disaster, it's a disaster, it's a catastrophe!!!
Why not print on regular paper (that's why this print is sold), and then glue that paper onto a punched sheet, or even punch the printed sheet afterwards????
I'm just saying this, I'm not saying anything... -

Thank you all for looking into the matter, but I'm still puzzled by these responses.
I bought a pack of 80g perforated paper to print lessons and put them directly into a binder. I don't want to do cutting every time I print (for HDU).-
the other solution is to change the printer....!
My Brother HL-1260 laser printer handles perforated paper very well...
But I am still skeptical, it's strange that the detection only fails at the perforation point..
If you put the paper with the perforation on the other side, does the printing still not work?

If I put the paper on the other side, the printing comes out perfectly but on the back of the sheet.
I think I'm still going to try the adhesive.-
I don't know this printer..
In the paper detection, there are 2 techniques: mechanical and optical.
If you can see how this is done, you might be able to disable the sensor by sticking a black adhesive over it or blocking the mechanical lever.
But BE CAREFUL, this safety feature is important.. in case of a problem with the paper not feeding correctly, you risk damaging the print head or spilling ink, which would dirty all the subsequent sheets. -
The information that the perforated paper doesn't work in this printer is included in the manual... but no one thinks to read a manual before buying... and that's a shame..
Although habits are changing.. now we pay close attention to the labels of what we want to buy to eat.. we'll eventually do it for objects too.- lol
Well, Zab72, if my idea of sticking involves a bit of handling, what about printing on regular sheets and then punching them later?
It costs around 15 euros, and it takes 1 second to punch 1 or 15 sheets at a time...

The already perforated sheets in your possession will come in handy sooner or later (note-taking for example).
It's more cost-effective than buying a new printer or ruining yours with stickers (which will actually take you longer to apply than to punch...)
Catch you later!

Thank you both for taking the time to discuss this topic.
From now on, I will be punching the sheets after printing. I tried tape, but it still doesn't work.
In any case, I would have been very clever when I bought the printer at least 4 or 5 years ago to foresee that I would want to use paper with little holes...
