Hi-fi system won't play all CDs

Hello,
I have a "Sony" hi-fi system that is 20 years old, which I got from my brother who was delighted with his system that worked well. I can no longer ask my brother anything, he has passed away.
My problem is that on my Sony system, I have CDs like "VOULVZY, Patrick Fiori, Chimene Badi, for example, that work very well.
But when I put in a CD by Julien Clerc or Bruel or Kenji that I bought recently, for example, it doesn't work and says "no disc."
I want to clarify that all my CDs, bought, work on the computer.
Honestly, it's driving me crazy because I don't know what to do or what to buy.
Some people tell me it's a lens issue, others say it's about the CD format.
I also called SONY’s headquarters, and they couldn't give me any explanation over the phone; it's not easy.
Is there anyone among you who knows a little better than I do or who also has an old SONY system?
I really wonder where this could be coming from.
I still find it difficult when audio or computer equipment is broken to find solutions.
Does anyone have any ideas? I'm 63 years old; it's easier for the young people.
Thanks in advance.

    Hello,
Have you tried cleaning the lens with a special disc?

If it's certain that recent CDs, it could be related to DRM. In this case, you should complain to the publishing house. Can you provide the list of CDs that are not working?

Also, are they burned CDs? Depending on how they are burned, they may work more or less well.

Thank you both for your responses, Andy and tsuy021.
This morning I took all the CDs and tried them.
Actually, out of about thirty tested CDs (bought CDs), those that work are: Laurent Voulzy (12 songs), ADELE (10 songs), sea shanties (10 songs), and Gregory LE marechal (10 songs).

Other CDs with 2 or 10 songs do not work, like Florent Pagny, Frank Michael, Julien Clerc, etc.
Some tell me to clean the lens, SONY customer service tells me it's a question of CD format.

So I don't really know, but I think I'm going to end up changing my sound system.
In any case, thank you for being concerned about my situation.

I'm almost sure it's because of the CDs (CD protection). I was asking you for the CDs to check if they have them. I'm looking into the names you gave me and I'll keep you posted. We shouldn't back down if that's the case.

Hello and thank you tsyo21 for trying to help me.
I have carefully read your messages.

I think I'll have to buy another chain because I don't know if it's a CD protection issue or a problem with my player since some CDs work. Even SONY can't help me, it's too old.
Anyway, thank you, and I'm open to any other information you might have.

      Information regarding the issue possibly
As for the purchase of a hi-fi system, if I need to change, I intend to buy a small format (Philips or another brand)
I don't listen to music very often
Regarding the speakers, what is the required power and if you are knowledgeable, what are the pitfalls to avoid
      Thank you

The power depends on the size of the room where you listen.

There are really several ranges of products today. The trap is to base your choice solely on the technical specifications. More watts and more features do not mean better sound. Listening to the systems is the best option. Otherwise, detailed tests explaining the limitations in the bass, treble, or midrange, etc., can help with the selection.

Depending on your budget, the range will change. In the entry-level audiophile category, Onkyo has some really nice products, but they are expensive (€400-500).

In the more affordable mini systems, Sony is well positioned as far as I remember. We'll see if other brands also perform as well.

If you give me a budget, I could possibly provide you with more information.
