Transparent white overlay on top of base image

Hi!
I have a problem that just suddenly popped up out of nowhere, all of a sudden and without warning.
The screen of my laptop has suddenly turned white. But not entirely. I'm currently using it, everything is functional except for the screen image, which looks as if a transparent white layer has been placed over the original image. So it's really annoying to use because it makes the colors look awful, black appears gray for example, while the others are all very pale.
Since I don't know anything about computers, I'm really in a bind and I need help!

Hello,

After restarting, does it continue?
And in safe mode, is it the same?
Can you post a photo?

I restarted several times and tried safe mode as well, and it continues, yes.

Here's a picture of a black image displayed full screen to really help see the result that this problem produces.

On light backgrounds, it poses a slightly lesser issue, but as soon as it happens on a black background, it flickers a bit like an old TV or like a screen filmed by a camera, if you catch my drift.

Hello,

I would say the screen is failing.

Hi!

So, is it repairable or am I going to have to buy a new computer?
Because I can't really afford it, so that would be pretty annoying... D:

It's repairable, just need to replace the slab.
