Hello,
For some time now, I haven't been able to use my email, it crashes every time I try to open an email, so Thunderbird is unusable.
Here is the message that appears after the crash:
The "Inbox" folder cannot be compacted due to a write error. Check that there is enough disk space and that you have write permission on this file system before trying again.
My version of Thunderbird is 31.6.0 and I have Windows 8.1
Do you have any ideas to solve this problem permanently?

Back up emails and possibly the settings with Mozbackup (free and French-patched)
Uninstall and reinstall Thunderbird and consider restoring the backed-up items maybe not all at once

The error "resource missing for 11684" corresponds to a read error on the hard drive, likely related to bad sectors. It is necessary to run a disk check (right-click on the hard drive, Properties - Tools - Check for errors) also checking "Scan for and attempt recovery of bad sectors." The process takes time, but it marks the bad sectors so that they are no longer used.
