Well, you have the French AZERTY keyboard, I suppose..?
So your é is with the 2 key ... It's not normal to have to press a key, that means you are in uppercase..
-- Your é should be a natural press...
-- So unlock your caps lock, that’s the one on the left of the keyboard with a small padlock on it and that way you’ll be in lowercase. QED

When you want to type a character in uppercase, don’t use the key with the padlock... but the one just below it with an arrow.. Hold it down while typing your letter and release it immediately.

Thus, the first letter of the word is uppercase and the rest is lowercase; this is the case with proper nouns... Normally, you never write an entire text in uppercase.

For the ö it's a bit special, you need to type the diaeresis first and then the letter o which will come to sit under the diaeresis, even if it doesn’t show up at first.

For the diaeresis, you need to hold down the arrow key and type the diaeresis, then release the arrow and type your O and that will give you Ö or ö
