Hello,

I would like to upgrade my RAM, but I must admit I’m completely lost, given the number of references on the market...

I did this test with Pc Wizard 2013

I have several questions:

1) Is the RAM reference PC3-10600 ??
2) I have a Samsung NP370R5E laptop running Windows 8, are all PC3-10600 RAM sticks compatible?
3) I removed my RAM stick and it says PC3-10800, so I no longer understand which is the correct reference?

Configuration: Windows 8 / Chrome 35.0.1916.114

    Hello.
You can replace one or two RAM sticks in your PC, but they must be of the same frequency as the current ones.
    DDR3 SDRAM PC3-10600 (665 MHz) (Laptop RAM)

      Hi

We’ll say SODIMM DDR3 SDRAM PC3-10600 (667 MHz) (SODIMM is the format for laptops)

      But should I buy a PC3-10600 or PC3-12800?

I made a mistake as you can see in the photo my RAM stick is PC3-12800, so I’m torn between different models.

      or

What does the Samsung have that's extra compared to the Kingston?
According to the technical sheet the Samsung RAM is compatible with my PC’s reference.

What is the reference, the model of your Samsung tone?
Because it is likely that the phone only supports a single RAM frequency, and if you put PC3-12800, it may not start.

    You cannot install PC3-12800
The PC has two RAM slots max 8 GB.
    Memory
    4 GB
    Number of sticks 1
    Memory type DDR3
    Frequency(s) Memory
    PC3-10600 - DDR3 1333 MHz
    Maximum memory size 8 GB

So you can add an identical stick to the one you currently have

Or replace the original stick and install 2x 4GB at 1600MHz...

Moreover: "I made a mistake as you can see in the photo, my RAM stick is a PC3-12800"

      It's DDR3 PC-12800 CL11

You say I can't, yet my computer is currently on and running with an 8GB DDR3 RAM stick PC-12800 CL11 and I have made no changes to my PC; it was the RAM that Samsung installed in my computer!

On your two images you have two different frequencies, which is odd. But if the RAM you show on your PC is PC3-12800 DDR3 1600 MHz, you can add a stick of the same frequency, preferably from the same brand. But be careful that on laptops the maximum RAM may not work. This happens quite often.

Okay, thanks for your advice, I’ll stick with my 4GB of RAM for now, I’ll see about the future.
