Ram 1333MHz in a 1066MHz PC

Hello, I ordered 2 RAM sticks of 8GB for my PC (ASUS X52JC EX354V, laptop)
and when I tried them, the PC started then shut down several times in a row (about 3 times) and then shut down completely. My PC supports DDR3 at 1066MHz and I got exactly the same for my PC but in 1333MHz thinking that the sticks would be throttled automatically, but they didn't. I don’t know what to do; however, I have other PCs that do throttle. Maybe I should update the BIOS (but how!), hoping you can help me, thank you for your responses.

    Hi,

    Yes, the frequencies are capped.

    However, in addition to the frequency... there is also the maximum capacity per slot and the total of the motherboard that must be considered. :-)

    Now, this machine seems to support 8GB in total... Thus, 4+4GB and not 8GB+8GB as you seem to be trying to install...

    So try with 4GB modules and it should work much better.

      Well, in that case, start with a simple test: check that the memory sticks are properly placed.

      Then, place one in the first slot and see if it works, and then in the second slot... and do the same with the second one...

      If both work alone in a slot but never together in both... it’s going to be fun to fix :-)

      Finally, is it DDR3 or DDR3L?

      Thank you for your Rapunzel, I did what you said and neither of them works alone, it's even worse, the computer starts then shuts down then restarts and shuts down not even 1/4 of a second later... Is it hopeless or is there a chance?

      Are the sticks indeed DDR3L and not DDR3?

      If they are DDR3, they will need to be exchanged for DDR3L, it will probably work better...

      But if none of them work alone, it’s likely that the sticks are defective... or that you are placing them incorrectly.

      The memory sticks are DDR3 and the PC is too, not in L. I've done my research, and the memory sticks were purchased new.

      Except that for a laptop, it is essential to prioritize DDR3L modules.

      DDR3 and DDR3L are "identical" except for the electrical voltage. Therefore, DDR3L is generally recommended and indicated for laptops. Besides, in your case, DDR3L modules are recommended.

    I didn't understand everything.
    2 sticks of 8GB RAM for me that's 16GB.
    The PC supports 8GB in total so it's too much for it.
    I see that, otherwise I'll forget it, I didn't say anything.

    Check the voltages
    Sometimes the stick is certified for a frequency at a voltage that the PC can't provide. It's not automatically 1.5V as it should be for DDR3. I saw sticks at 1.65V while looking for my PC. My CPU can't manage them. I don't have a motherboard designed for overclocking either.

    It could be a faulty stick or not seated properly (remove it and put it back) or dust in a slot.
    Try the sticks one by one to start.
    A faulty stick won't work in any slot, the other stick works in both slots.

    A faulty slot would really be a coincidence that it happens at the same time as the stick change but hey. One stick works in one slot and not in the other. The 2nd stick works in one slot and not in the other.

      However, this laptop seems to be compatible with overclocking, but in any case, the RAM sticks are 1.5v and the new ones are too, so I don't think that's the issue. Also, the RAM sticks "work" but each one individually prevents me from accessing the BIOS, which seems even weirder. If a stick is faulty, it typically wouldn't be detected at all. I really don't know what's going on, anyway, thank you for your responses.
