Cracked MacBook Air screen

Hello,

I am reaching out to you because a few days ago, my phone unfortunately slipped from my hands and hit the screen of my MacBook Air (11").
As a result, there is a small chip on my screen (it's a bit "yellow" just around it), and this chip is also the origin point of a few cracks.
However, the chip and the cracks are actually behind the screen. It's not really my screen that is broken. For example, when it's in sleep mode, you can't see at all that it's cracked, but when I turn it on, that's when it becomes visible.

Do you know if this is (very) serious?
Do I have to get it repaired?
I imagine it will cost me quite a fortune...

Thank you for your help!
Have a good evening.

    Hello,

If this crack is right in the middle of the screen, it's quite visually distracting. If it's in a corner, we pay less attention to it.
All this to say that only you can decide if the screen replacement is necessary or not.
Here is a tutorial that shows you the complexity of changing the screen: LCD Screen Replacement on a 13" MacBook Air.
A price of €600 for the screen replacement in the Apple network is mentioned in this tutorial: is it still current? I don't know, but what I do know is that there are plenty of small companies that specialize in laptop or mobile screen replacements, and I've seen "softer" prices.

      Thank you for your response!
The crack is rather in the middle.. But my problem is "sorted", I bought a new one and I will file for insurance to get reimbursed for the broken one.
In addition to the crack and the fissures, there is now a blue ink stain at the crack that is starting to spread.. And last week, it acted up a bit (and since I really need a computer, that's what pushed me to buy a new one).
For the moment, I don't think I will get it repaired, but thank you very much for your advice, it’s very kind of you!

      Hello

as long as your pixels haven't cracked (black spots), the screen won't degrade, and if the crack doesn't bother you, you can leave it.
