Propagation of waves:
True, waves are polarized by the arrangement of their antenna.

But one must not confuse "polarization" and "dispersion." GSM operates with horizontal polarization.
After a few dozen meters, these waves are received everywhere, following a pattern resembling a horizontal cone with the tip being the antenna (unless it’s an omnidirectional antenna, which is rarely used in GSM).

To avoid "generating" problems for those directly under the antenna, a metal plate (grid) is placed that prevents the waves from passing (Faraday cage) and helps increase the antenna's gain.

Now, as you pointed out, the debate remains open regarding the potential danger of these waves, depending on their power level, the situation and gain of the antenna, and the frequency used.

It depends on the type of antenna. Generally, multidirectional antennas are used in relatively small areas to cover, especially indoors, such as train stations, metro stations, etc. The antennas that are installed on rooftops are unidirectional; like car headlights, they are equipped with a reflector that focuses the radiation in one direction. Each antenna covers an area of about 120° horizontally, so operators typically install three antennas, each covering a sector.

For your information, the waves from these critters are less harmful than those from your microwave, and also, your EDF network running through your walls also generates electromagnetic waves, and you produce them too, so... unless it's 20,000V with high amperage, enjoy!!!!!
It is very dangerous to live under a high voltage power line (HTA or HTB), and don’t forget your microwave is more harmful than these antennas, the worst part is that they are elevated, you won’t feel a thing!!! If anything, you'll have a much better network at your place!

Good evening
I have had SFR antennas on my head for 8 years, when I bought my apartment I panicked so I had an expert come in to measure the waves and curiously at my place (in the whole apartment and I'm on the top floor) the level was very low, however he showed me what my microwave emitted in terms of waves as well as my mobile phone and THERE, there's plenty to worry about!!!! I didn't have internet at the time but apparently wi-fi isn't great either
on the other hand in the courtyard of my building the waves are much stronger (but still within the norm) so let's just say I prefer to have them on my head and be protected.
That said, I live in an industrial area surrounded by TOTAL, BP, and SHELL refineries, I have a microwave, wi-fi and 2 mobile phones that I use all day for work!
So to avoid exposure, I would just have to go live in Larzac without electricity or a phone and raise goats!

The radiation from antennas in the vertical plane includes:

a main lobe with an opening angle of 6 to 9°

plus secondary lobes below it.

If the antenna is placed on your roof, it is essentially the secondary lobes to which you will be exposed, while the main lobe will expose the neighbors.

Personally, I would investigate a little around the neighborhood.
If you refuse and the neighbor accepts, you'll be stuck dealing with the waves while filling the neighbor's pockets.

Hello,

In no way should one agree to have GSM relay antennas installed on their roof, if only for the principle of precaution; we do not yet know what the real dangers are, but they exist.
The waves propagate "like an umbrella," meaning they are neither horizontal nor vertical. They fall back towards the surrounding area, perhaps sparing a little those who live directly underneath, but not those who are facing it and in the nearby vicinity (and again, we really don't know...).
You can ask for information at Teslabel. We organized an information evening, and the engineer representing this non-profit knows the issue inside out; he provided us with very valuable information.
In our neighborhood, an apartment facing a relay antenna was so disturbed by it (insomnia, lack of concentration, headaches, disrupted computer and radio, etc...) that they had aluminum mesh installed on the wall and window facing this antenna. Tests were conducted by the IBGE, and all parameters were at the highest acceptable level. Finally, after several years, the telecommunications provider agreed to reduce the intensity of this antenna.
Personally, I have suffered from insomnia for 12 years (since the installation of the first of three antennas on the roof of a retirement home!). In our neighborhood, there is a frightening number of cancers; is it pollution, the planes flying overhead, these antennas, or is it a combination of everything???
I do not know...

I posted letters to the whole neighborhood around me; the result is 7 fewer Wi-Fi networks, but there are still 3 left!
How long until people move? It's a tiring struggle.
We should hack a television; I don't know, but all of this is very serious.
Personally, I'm the type to lose my cool, and maybe one day I'll start cutting those damn antennas or burn everything down, but I'm afraid for my freedom. Well, until then, maybe someone else will lose it first; let's hope so, lol. Thank you.
