Format C Drive Only Under Windows XP Solved

Question

Hello as a novice in computers. I have a desktop computer running Windows XP filled with viruses. My hard drive is divided into (C: system files, etc. and D: where I have my photos, documents, etc.). My two questions are as follows: 1) how to format the C drive only (I have the Windows XP CD) 2) if I format the C drive only, will all the viruses on my PC be removed, and will everything be clean? Since Windows and system files are located on the C drive? Thank you very much for your answers, which will be very helpful to me.

Hello. It's not just Windows that can get infected but also photo files or documents, etc. that are on your D: drive. You can format and reinstall Windows! but that doesn't mean your PC will be clean.  -- Whoever loves instruction! finds knowledge that comes from reflection! PS. Frequently create a restore point! it solves quite a few problems.

If you format C:/ and then open files from D:/ it's understandable that if it's infected, your Windows on C:/ will be infected. To format, insert your CD into the drive, restart, and press the Esc or F1 key to boot from the DVD/CD Rom drive. Do you have the drivers for your XP? Because it will be out of support in April. But don't put your old files back on your D:/ afterwards! It’s just like doing nothing. You'd end up in the same place.  Who loves learning! finds the knowledge that comes from reflection! PS. Mmmm! Yes, it makes sense, I think as long as they are infected, I risk "reinfecting" after formatting, that's true!! And yes, I have the drivers for my XP. Otherwise, should I install another operating system? What do you recommend?
