formatting xp without cd Solved/Closed

Question

Hello,

I want to format my PC because it's only two years old and it’s already having a lot of bugs (I've already done a cleanup and removed software that I don't use) but the problem is that I don't have the Windows CD.

It's a Unika PC bought from a supermarket.

I checked and I don't have a recovery CD or a recovery partition. I only have one partition labeled "system" and another one "unknown partition".

Is there another way to reinstall XP?

P.S.: What is a bootable CD? Do I need one to format my PC? I'm not very good with computers yet!

Hello, to format a PC without a CD, you need to press F10 at startup (tap F10)... it's that simple. Then it will ask you for some things, etc...

To format your PC without a CD, I think it must be difficult unless you have two operating systems, you partition one with the other.

But I believe that's not your case.

You can download Ultimate Boot CD:

Use the Ranish partition software to format your hard drive, and then you can reinstall XP.

Otherwise, a "Boot CD" is a startup CD, often used to fix a bug or perform special operations (partitioning, formatting, checking disks, etc.).

When your PC won't boot, you can use one (UBCD is one).

Hi.

Here is the link to download UBCD directly:
http://www.planetmirror.com/pub/ubcd/3.4/ubcd34-basic.exe

Then run it, and it will give you an ISO image.
Burn it, then put the CD in the computer that's giving you trouble and restart.

Normally, you should see something that looks like this:

Select "[F2] Hard Disk Tools",
then look for Ranish Partition.

After that, you should be able to find how to format your disk.
(At a certain point press enter, a window will pop up offering various options, choose partitioning)

Then you should be able to reinstall Windows.

Hello,

Look in Start/all programs, there is always a utility that allows you to reformat the hard drive and reinstall the system. Otherwise, this can be done using a function key (F1, F2, F3...) that you press during startup.

Tip: Never format a computer if you do not have the appropriate drivers or if Windows does not recognize all the devices. You might have unpleasant surprises (no sound, poor display, no wifi...).

Hi, you don't need to format your computer, go to:

Start>All Programs>Accessories>System Tools>System Restore.

Then click on Restore my computer to an earlier time (which means, for example, the first day you used your computer). Click Next, then Next again, and wait; never turn off your computer.
