Hello,
as stated in the title, I want to update my BIOS.
I have an ACER Aspire M5500 with a Phoenix Technologies - LTD BIOS R01-A4 from March 26, 2007...
I went to the ACER website, and I downloaded the new BIOS (R01-B0).
In the obtained folder, there is the "winflash" utility and a Word document that explains how to proceed, practically idyllic...
Except that, in bold at the very beginning of the instructions, this sentence appears:
"remember to remove the memory from DIMM3 & DIMM4 to DIMM1 & DIMM2"
I understand a little English, and a search on Google helps me understand that "DIMM" refers to the slots for memory sticks (I have 4 slots).
The problem is that ALL the slots are occupied; I recently added 2 GB of RAM.
Can I carry out the operation without touching my memory sticks? Or do I have to remove the added sticks and place the remaining ones in slots 1 & 2?
I specify that originally the existing sticks were placed in slots 1 & 3 (thanks to CPU-Z)
So thank you for your upcoming responses
Have a nice day
