Hello,

I am the owner of an Acer laptop (Aspire V Nitro VN791-G) and I want to format my PC for the very first time. However, I am facing a password issue when trying to enter the BIOS to select the boot mode.

To be clear: I am not looking for a bogus method to bypass the password on my PC. Whenever I try to find documentation regarding this password, I come across articles explaining how to circumvent this security.

THIS IS NOT MY CASE

I just want to know where I am supposed to find the password legally since I am the buyer and sole owner of this computer...

Thank you in advance for your replies!

Thank you for your response!

I bought it new, and it seems to me (after some effort to remember) that I must have entered a password for the BIOS

Unfortunately, I am 99% sure of the password I must have used, but apparently my BIOS doesn't agree with me

Between the date I entered my password and now, I have switched to Windows 10. Could that have an impact?

No.

And if you bought it new, it's 99% certain that you are the one who set a password on the BIOS.

One thing to try. It's possible that for the BIOS, the keyboard is in QWERTY and that you're looking for a password in AZERTY.

Good call on the AZERTY/QWERTY idea, I’m going to look into that

Otherwise, does anyone know how to change the boot order without going through the BIOS?

Some BIOS have a shortcut key solely for the boot order, so that needs to be checked as well.

But I think the simplest solution would be to bypass the password, if it's technically possible.
