Hello,

I just got a D-link DCS 5300G IP camera.
I plugged it into the "CLUBINTERNET.BOX" modem router with an RJ45 cord. So far so good, it is recognized at the IP address 192.168.1.4.
But where it gets complicated is for the Wi-Fi recognition without the RJ45 connection.
Does anyone have the solution??

ThanksConfiguration: Windows XP
Firefox 2.0.0.3

Generally, devices need to have:
  • either a fixed IP address compatible with the address subnet of your router (usually it is often 192.168.1.0 ..... 192.168.1.254)
  • or a dynamic address (DHCP) that is given dynamically by the router to the camera .... The disadvantage of DHCP for a camera .... is that the address will change all the time ..... not practical if you want to connect to it regularly, especially remotely, from the office

What happens with a wired connection is identical to what happens with Powerline Communication (PLC) or Wi-Fi. The only difference: with Wi-Fi, to connect you generally have to enter an encryption key (WPA), so:
  • 1) Identify the address ranges on the router, the available fixed IP addresses
  • 2) Connect to the camera via an Ethernet cable. The camera usually has a default fixed IP address (in the manual), modify it or check the "DHCP" option.
  • 3) Take this opportunity to enter the WPA key of the Wi-Fi and the SSID name of your access point ..... it's now or never, otherwise it won't work on Wi-Fi ...
  • 4) Save, and disconnect from the wired connection.

The camera should connect to the access point by itself. Remember to optimize the image size and compression to avoid saturating your network during viewing or recording.
