I no longer have any admin commands on my PC. Solved

Question

Hello, I’m going to explain my problem in a few lines.  At first, everything was going well with my PC, until I created a new session for my brother. So I had my own session (administrator) and my brother's session (guest).  Since I had tons of important information on my C: drive, I wanted to block access to this drive for the guest session. I went into the properties of the C: drive and there, I didn't pay attention and removed the rights from my administrator session when I thought I was removing them from the guest session... (I'm such an idiot)  So now I find myself with a PC without any admin session. I can't even create folders or change settings in the control panel.  I restarted my PC in "safe mode" to restore it to how it was two days ago. The restoration worked, but I still don't have administrator rights and still can't access my C: drive.  I wanted to create a new admin session (still in "safe mode") so I could then restore permissions on my original session, but during this process, the PC tells me that I don't have the necessary rights to perform this action.  I'm really in a bind...  I hope to get help and find a solution thanks to you :) Thank you.

Thank you for your quick response.  Actually, I tried to do that, but once in the owner section, you need admin rights to make changes... and I don't have them ^^

Hi Robin323, right-click on C:/Properties/Security/Advanced/Owner/Change and select your admin account, then confirm by clicking OK. You're welcome!

Hello,  There’s something wrong with all of this. That you deleted the NTFS permissions is one thing. But your account is STILL an administrator in any case.  If you cannot change the owner of a folder or the disk, it means you are not an administrator of the PC. In that case, you need to ask the actual administrator to restore the permissions.  Here ( http://imageshack.com/a/img837/7647/1w3.png ), the message indicates that only an administrator can proceed and the "continue" button should allow modifications to whatever we want. If that’s not the case, you need to add yourself to the list of owners to "take ownership" of the folder.  An administrator of a PC has the right to add or remove rights from a hard drive, even for themselves. That’s only logical.  PS. Restorations, account creations, or password changes are useless. There’s another solution, but I’m waiting for your response regarding the riddle of your "administrator" account before proposing it to you.

But he (she) can't do anything since all administrator rights have been  removed on the C: drive, therefore it's impossible to run .exe files, .msc,  impossible to go to the security tab to modify settings, as  administrator rights are required.  etcetera.. etcetera.. This means that it is blocked everywhere..

Microsoft has surely anticipated this kind of error, and to launch an exe one does not need to be an admin; otherwise, there would be no point in creating a guest account.   They should create a super admin account via the registry.   Alternatively, they could install another OS alongside Windows, back up their files, and reinstall Windows. :(

Hello I had the same problem, so here’s what I did  - Start in safe mode - Log in through the account named Administrator listed - Go to settings --> accounts --> family and other users - Click on your account, then on change account type, and set it to administrator  There you go, that's it, and normally your account has admin rights  P.S.: I did this on Windows 10 but I believe it should also work for Windows 7
