I’ve acquired some computer hardware; I assume it’s a server. I have two like this:

If anyone can tell me what it is and how much I could sell it for because I don’t want to keep them, thank you in advance.

Hi
It does look like a CPU bay for a server indeed or a controller board for a machine tool. The presence of DDR3 demonstrates the age of the hardware.
Besides listing it as is on Le Bon Coin for 20€ or by auction, in case someone still has the rack, or the machine and the use for it....
Moreover, there is no possibility to test the hardware beforehand.....don’t expect more.

Hello,

by performing an image search with Google Lens, I get this:

It’s hardware that’s starting to date (2004):

We can see, inside, the DVD drive but not the hard disk(s)?
Hi,
It looks like SAS storage; the controller card of this type can be worth a few bucks (if it's a PCI add-on card). For the rest, not much to extract.
Cheers, blux "People are idiots, they dare everything.
That's how you recognize them"The ad on LeBonCoin is offline ... 499€ ... the listing dates from January, it’s a sign, and at that price it’s surely unsellable.
Hello, thanks for your responses. Indeed, this hardware was destined for the junk re-use (rebu), the disks present are SATA but I have another enclosure with many disk bays, but those are SAS I suppose there isn’t much I can do besides recovering the disks to use them in an external enclosure capable of using the SAS format

External enclosures that accept SAS drives are surely not common (at reasonable prices).
That's why I said that maybe you should recover the SAS controller card if it is PCI and not built into the motherboard.
Be careful what is sold on marketplaces like Amazon: a cable/adapter supposedly doing SAS/USB (or other) looks like a SATA cable, but if at the other end you don't find the intelligence that sends SAS-specific commands, the hard drive won't boot.
Typically it looks like this:
https://www.amazon.fr/SFF-8482-SAS-Adaptateur-disque-broches-dalimentation/dp/B079DBR81L?th=1
And it is clearly indicated:
- 1) Note: This product does not allow SAS hard drives to be connected to SATA ports on a standard motherboard. The SAS interface is supported by chips, not by adapters. Please verify clearly (unless your SAS hard drive supports SATA mode or the motherboard SATA is equipped with a SAS chip).
- 2) The motherboard SATA connected to the SAS hard drive must meet one of the following conditions: your motherboard supports SAS mode or your SAS hard drive supports SATA mode.
However, if you want to retrieve the disks, they are 10,000 rpm, so loud and power-consuming (even though they’re good old Hitachi). They’re designed for servers, where noise doesn’t matter in the data center.
A+ blux "Fools, they dare anything. That’s how you recognize them"Well, I'll see what I can do with this information, thanks anyway :)
