Hello everyone,

Following the breakdown of my PC, I'm embarking on building a new PC for the first time, and I appreciate your advice.
I ordered an MSI Z77A-G45 Gaming motherboard (which isn't very well suited to my needs, but well... I found out too late). Now that I have it, I want to assemble my PC without messing things up. The most important thing for now is the choice of processor. I see that it is compatible with 3rd generation Intel Core i7/i5/i3/Pentium LGA 1155 socket. Intel Z77 chipset.
Are all 1155 socket Intel Core i7/i5/i3 and Pentium processors compatible, or are there models that might not fit? And should the chipset guide my choice towards one processor rather than another?
Then, I noticed that my power supply only has 4 pins while the motherboard has 8.
I wonder if I can connect my power supply with just 4 pins, if I need to use a 4-pin to 8-pin adapter (if it exists), or if I should simply change the power supply. I have an ADVANCE PSU 512 power supply and another ADVANCE MPT 460 XP.
As for sound and graphics cards, it seems they are integrated, but I'll check that later (the manual is not in French, and I haven't gotten to that chapter yet).
And then (please don't laugh), does the CPU cooler come included, or do I need to buy it separately? I have two, but since they were designed for different processors, I'm not sure they will fit.
I'm sure I'll encounter more unexpected issues in the coming weeks, but I'm in no rush.

Thank you for your replies, and see you soon.

Hello,
Are all Intel Core i7/i5/i3 and Pentium processors with the 1155 socket compatible, or are there models that may not fit?
In principle, all 1155 socket CPUs are compatible.
The general approach is to check the website of the motherboard manufacturer:
https://fr.msi.com/Motherboard/Z77A-G45-GAMING.html
Then you check the BIOS version for each CPU.

I have an ADVANCE PSU 512 power supply and another ADVANCE MPT 460 XP
Well, that simplifies the problem, you need to throw both of them away, read this:
http://www.x86-secret.com/dossier-36-3000-Alimentation_Noname.html
And get, for example, a Corsair CX 430W or an Antec HCG 520W depending on your graphics card needs.

Is the CPU fan included, or do I need to buy it separately?
There is one included, very basic.
You can replace it with a more advanced cooler, especially if you plan to overclock your CPU.
Check if the ones you have are compatible with the 1155 socket.
