Hello,
For the past few days, the process "searchfilterhost" has frequently been using about 30% of the CPU resources (according to SpeedFan); I am wondering if some malware might be hidden. I have used "mbam" and found nothing. "AdwCleaner" revealed nothing. "MSE" found nothing. I cleaned the registry with "CCleaner." Previously, when idle, the PC used a maximum of 1% of the CPU. I hesitated to post this message in the security section! If anyone could help me find answers, I would be very grateful.
Configuration: Windows 7 / Firefox 23.0

Thank you for the tip .... everything is back to normal. Thank you and best wishes

Well "disable", otherwise with "stop" it restarts.
If you have just imported your collection of books, photos, videos [...] onto your PC, it's better to let Windows work for a few minutes to index everything rather than disabling it all.
Indeed, it is a background operation that can consume quite a bit of resources on older PCs, but think carefully before disabling the indexing service: Am I not going to be frustrated with this computer when it takes 25 minutes to find a file on my hard drive?
