P8P67 Pro motherboard no audio output ALC892 chipset

Hello,
I have an Asus P8P67-Pro motherboard but there is no sound coming from the speakers or other outputs...

chipset of the motherboard: ALC892

I have done multiple searches without managing to find a solution even though the problem exists
so before throwing my PC out the window I’m asking for your help :)

the problem is:
the sound manager shows an animation when a sound is playing but no sound comes from the speakers
==>the drivers are correctly installed
==>no problems detected at the device manager level
==>the speakers are detected by the motherboard

==> the speakers work on other devices
==> I reinstalled the latest drivers

    Hello...

    I suppose you’re plugging the jack into the GREEN output of the machine ?
    You didn’t install a sound card in PCI or PCI-E...because, if that’s the case, it usually inhibits the chipset...
    Otherwise, before throwing it out the window, simply install a PCI card...it’s worth 3 francs 6 sous and it works very well....

    hi pokuine,

    thanks for your reply

    i confirm that i am plugging the jack into the green output ^^
    i don’t have an additional sound card
    i managed with a headset microphone plugged in via usb while waiting to find a solution
    otherwise i think there is no relation but i have sound passing through the hdmi... on the screen speakers...

    otherwise yes if i don’t find a solution i will look into a sound card...
    but i hoped to get the jack input on my pc to work...

      You found the source of your problem. I don’t know what graphics card you have, but it was installed as the default sound card. Hence the sound going through the HDMI port. You need to change it so that the sound chipset becomes the default playback device again. If you have the HP icon, right-click it and select Playback Devices. In the window that opens, look for Speakers to configure them as the default device.

      Hello Epango, No, I haven't found the origin of my problem. So I confirm that the speakers are set by default, and when I play a sound or other, there is the animation that shows I’m playing a sound, but there is still no sound... Best regards, Patista

      Did you check the volume mixer for the H-Ps to see if they’re not positioned at the bottom?

    You must have a "sound" console... with perhaps "before/after" settings, USB/Jack.... look at what it offers... by browsing all the tabs...
    PS: you have the "speaker" icon at the bottom right, near the clock?
    What does a right-click on it offer?

    What’s weird is that in the Realtek software it sees a jack plugged in at the back
    when I play music or other things you can see that there is something in the tab => sound => playback because there is an animation in the Realtek codec but nothing comes out in terms of noise...

    Did you try putting other speakers on this jack?

    Hello,

    Try right-clicking the speaker icon at the bottom right of the taskbar, then select "Playback devices".
    In the window that opens, right-click on "Speakers" and "set this device as default". The sound should then come through... with a little luck.

    Same steps to later re-enable sound via HDMI to the screen, right-click on the proper HDMI device and "set this as default device".
