Hello,
I'm having a problem with Money since yesterday, it was fine before.
When I quit Money, I get the following message: unable to perform this operation
and a file: money.lrd appears. I don't know what to do.
When I go back into Money, the system tells me: Money is already open.
When I shut down the PC, upon reboot, I can go back into Money.
If anyone can help me, thank you.
Configuration: Windows 7 / Internet Explorer 9.0

Hello,
Yes, I have the original installation CD of Ms Money 2005
and I have an svg on an external drive, but I made it after receiving the message
I will uninstall and reinstall the software and I will let you know the result.

Hello;
I think you were a bit too quick in your approach, I had asked you to get back to me before uninstalling: But it's okay >> Thank you for following exactly how to do it by following the instructions in this link which had the same issue as you and resolved it
Thank you for staying on your message to let me know the result

I'm stuck in the installation procedure that says: Extract (or unzip) the Money file downloaded to the desktop over the Microsoft Money application
I don't understand the process.
See you!

Hello;
To unzip or extract, it's simple because I suppose you have software for that on your machine: If not, download and install 7-Zip from this link
Once this software is installed on your machine, right-click with your mouse on the Money_2005_2007.zip patch that you downloaded earlier and is on your desktop, and a window will pop up offering to extract this compressed file. You will then specify the path where this folder should be extracted, namely C:/Program Files/Microsoft MsMoney, which must already be installed >> You need to extract the patch over the installed MsMoney (See this screenshot)
If you have a problem, you can come back

Hello;
Since I can no longer modify my last message, I am providing you with the exact method to extract the Money_2005_2107 file (Patch Zip)
Right-click on the file >> 7-Zip >> Open >> Extract tab (at the top) >> Look for the path to find where Microsoft Money is installed on your C:/ drive
The path is usually C:/Program Files/Microsoft Money, then confirm by clicking ok, and then restart Money from your last backup
Click on this link to see the list of resolved messages with the installation of this patch

I finally found the path and loaded the Patch, but when I open Money on the SVG, I get the following message: unable to find money.mny or open it because it is probably a read-only file, or your file is write-protected.

Money is launching well, I have a window opening:
About the update of your Money file
Money will convert your file so you can use it in this version of the software
blablabal..................
I click next
and I get the message: unable to find: money.mny
I also have to step out, I will be back around 5 PM

I'm back,
I'm waiting for your instructions.
I notice that every time I try to open Money, a copy of the Money file is added, as indicated at the beginning of the procedure.
Then, when asked if I want to start a new file, I skip that.
And when I click the next button, I get the message: cannot find Money.mny.

I'm coming back to the question of whether my SVG is functional?
How can I make sure of it?
It's a file with a .mny extension
Microsoft Money file type

Sorry for the delay and sorry for the informal address, but it's easier for me (shorter sentences, etc...) without disrespect, and you can of course do the same
1- Regarding the backup, there is something concerning when you write this (copy/paste)
"Yes, I do have the original installation CD of Ms Money 2005
and I have a backup on an external drive, but I made it after receiving the message
I will uninstall and reinstall the software and I will let you know the result.

2- Can you open the contents of the C:/Programme/Microsoft Money drive to see if it looks like the screenshot below with the same files
See the screenshot

Good evening,
No problem with the "TU", I will do the same.
In C:/Program/Microsoft Money, I find the same files, except for:
Sample.M14 and MnyUpdate.log

Hello;
We "just missed" each other last night, not seeing a response >> I stopped the machine
Your message above
"I just opened Sample.mny, it's strange, the data is unfamiliar to me but it works.?????" >> But what??
Interesting sentence that deserves some in-depth explanations >> You opened MsMoney from Sample.mny >> Unknown data (I think, unless it is an account created by Money for demonstration purposes when purchasing the software??) >> Can you check and confirm
Here’s what I suggest you do now to recover your last backup
1- Launch MsMoney from the Sample.mny file
2- At the top left, you have a tab Open >> Open
3- In the window that opens >> Look for the location of your last backup made on a removable drive (USB stick - CD/RW (like me) or External HDD) and there you do as shown in the screenshots below in order

In principle, if MsMoney is correctly installed with its update patch, you should be able to recover your last backup, provided that it is indeed valid; if not (it may be that your last backup was poorly done??), things get seriously complicated
Personal recommendations: Always make 2 distinct backups on a removable drive and ensure these backups are properly made
If problems >> Come back here

Thank you for kindly letting us know if your problem is resolved by activating this function in the space provided for that

Hello;
In a previous message, you wrote to me that you had made a backup on a removable drive >> Have you tried with that one and not the one you find on your hard drive?
When you made your last backup, did you notice anything abnormal, like MsMoney stopping during the backup or anything else?
I think the problem comes from a faulty backup?
When you launch Money via Sample.mny, you told me that it worked but with weird data >> Can you tell me more?
Do you confirm that you have properly installed the MsMoney update patch?
Edit: In your very first call message, you refer to a problem that occurred on February 17th >> Do you have the ability to perform a system restore to a date prior to your issues (for example, February 10 or 15) in order to return to your old configuration and possibly recover from the error (all of this as a precaution)

In fact, after reflection, what I did was make a copy of the Money.mny file and not what is called a backup, on the removable disk.
Yes, I did install the update patch
Additionally, yesterday I created a new 'test' Money file which seems correct, the procedure went well until the file was closed, but of course, it contains nothing.
In Sample.mny, I think those are examples provided with Money
The money.mbf file that I am viewing looks good to me regarding the number of records it contains.
See you later

A copy is not a backup and does not work as such.
To create a backup on a removable drive, you need to configure MsMoney to prompt for the creation of an external backup at each closing.
I added a comment via Edit to my last message asking if you had the possibility to do a system restore by setting a date prior to your problems, specifically between February 10 and 15. >> It's worth a try, but not certain it will work; however, before doing that, you need to create a restore point now to avoid destroying everything you've just done.
You say that the money.mbf file you are currently viewing pleases you due to the number of records it contains. >> This would suggest that it contains part of your accounts but perhaps not up to date??? >> Please confirm that.
Question: How long have you been using MsMoney?

Oh yes, I didn't notice your reference to system restore, but that's a bit concerning, I'm afraid to mess with that.
I confirm that the money.mbf file appears to be up to date with my accounting.

If you’re okay with it, let’s review the current situation
1- You write
"I confirm that the file money.mbf seems up to date with my accounting."
Which means that MsMoney is functioning in this case
Thank you for confirming that by currently launching MsMoney you have access to your accounting and that it is up to date
2- If yes >> I will communicate how to force MsMoney to back up to an external storage
3- Regarding system restoration, it’s very easy to do with some knowledge, but if MsMoney is operational: There’s no need to do a restoration
Can you reply quickly because I need to go to the bathroom and will be out until 12:30
You can also tell me what time we can continue this afternoon

1 - Money works - I opened a test file and the procedure is correct up to the closure.
2 - I view a .mbf file by searching in the explorer
3 - When restoring this file, I get the message: unable to restore, file is read-only,
So for now, I am stuck. My data is not loaded into Money.mny
If possible, we will resume around 5 PM, I also have other commitments.
Thank you for your responsiveness and have a good day

Sorry, but I don't really understand this sentence
"In fact, this is my last access to Money, before all the manipulations."
I guess you have a MsMoney shortcut on your desktop > Launch Money and check the balance of your main account > Add 1,000,000 euros (for example or to dream?) > Close Money > Relaunch Money and check if the 1,000,000 has been added to your account
See you later.

Hello;
1- Do you have the original installation CD of Microsoft MsMoney?
2- Do you have an up-to-date backup of your accounting, preferably on a removable medium (USB stick - CD/RW or External HDD)?
You may have a corrupted MsMoney file, and reinstalling after uninstalling the software might solve your issue.
After answering these questions, I will provide you with a procedure to update MsMoney.
