Good evening, here is my problem: I am capped at 50kb/s, whether I have one or multiple files downloading, regardless of how many sources there are. I'm using Windows XP SP2 with Alice box 6 mega, not unbundled, Kerio firewall, port 44196 open on the box. If it’s the firewall causing the issue, how can I add a rule to it? Thank you in advance for your informed responses.
Configuration: Windows XP Internet Explorer 7.0

Well hello here :)
I had roughly the same problem... it was very annoying
This morning I just found my solution :D great you will tell me
So: I was stuck at 0.3ko/s yes I know it’s very little I just boosted it with an arrow :)
Indeed, I opened my ports on my Livebox in both UDP and TCP which gave me the green panel :D that was already a great pleasure lol
Then, I was still stuck at 0.3ko/s and I searched for solutions in forums... but nothing
So, as a piece of advice, I would say to do what I did:
You go back to the torrent link you downloaded, open it again with uTorrent and it will ask you if you want to open the tracker :) say yes
Do this for all the torrents you have :)
Then right-click on each of your torrents and do: Refresh the tracker
and for me they all started up :)
This tip was for those who were stuck (I had neither sources nor clients anymore)
Then for those who are stuck with ports :)
You need to open a port higher than 30000 (mine is 31668) but you have to open it in your firewall (or disable it) and also in your Livebox (or another if you have something else) ....
For any other explanation... I stay tuned to this topic hihi
I’m not super skilled in tech but I manage :) so I hope this message will help a few people there you go :)

Hello everyone!!
Before anything else, have you configured uTorrent! The upper right tab "Preferences" or right-click on the name of the torrent you are downloading and select "Bandwidth Allocation" and then download speed!!
Good luck

I had a similar problem, namely my download speed limited to 30KB/s while it was set to a limit of 55KB/s. On the other hand, my upload speed was configured to a maximum of 5KB/s, and I discovered that by increasing this limit to 6KB/s, the download limit of 30KB/s disappeared.
It seems that uTorrent limits the download for clients that are too restrictive on their upload limit (namely <= 5KB/s).

Hi, I have a big problem. I'm running at 3 kb/s, so you might as well say that it's not moving forward. What should I do?
Hello everyone!
So I also have a reception problem, but first of all, I want to say that I'm terrible with computers!!
So actually, it seems to be more of a port issue, because when I test it, I get this message:
Welcome to the µTorrent Port Checker.
A test will be performed on your computer to check if the specified port is opened.
Checking port 54817 on 82.120.34.212...
Error! Port 54817 does not appear to be open.
Please see www.portforward.com for more information about how to map a port.
Please make absolutely sure that PeerGuardian2 or Protowall is allowing utorrent.com (72.20.34.145) in either of those programs. Those of you using ipfilter.dat should make sure the list does not include the website's IP. After making sure of this, re-run this test by refreshing the page (F5).
Does anyone know how I can fix this problem?
Thanks in advance!

Good evening Fannouche!
You can take a look at: http://ww12.quebectorrent.com
It's quite comprehensive, I'm discovering it too so I can't tell you yet if their advice is effective.
For the speed test, do it, it's super important!
Happy reading!
Make sure your "firewall" allows µTorrent.

Before anything else... Don't limit your upload emission rate to less than 80% of your bandwidth!
P2P is a sharing system, not a self-service! Otherwise, keep downloading with E-Mule, where no one cares...
When you see a "yellow triangle," it means the port that µtorrent uses for downloading is blocked by your firewall and/or your router/modem.
Next, type "µtorrent tutorial" into Google... Select one of the links, and follow the instructions...
Don't forget to share... Otherwise, one day no one will be able to download anything, and the sources will get fed up with making posts for freeloaders.

Hello everyone
I had the same problem as you until I understood that uTorrent (or the tracker) reduced the download rate if your upload rate was too low
The moment I set the upload to unlimited (0), the download rate skyrocketed (500 kB/s)
Although the upload is 60 kB/s, internet access remains good, I can even play online.
I hope my answer has satisfied you, I remain at your disposal on this topic.

Are you on a private tracker or a public tracker? Maybe it's simply that the torrent you're downloading is only emitting at that rate, and in that case, you're not responsible at all!!
Hi
start by going to telecharger.com then where it says search (in the top left) type utorrent 1.7.6
you should find it then all you have to do is click on it and then click on download

Hello!
I have uTorrent but I don't understand anything about it! The download speed, by the way, never exceeds 15KB/s (at most)!
And I have a yellow triangle at the bottom...
But I don't understand your explanations above at all :s
Thank you for helping me (just so you know, you're dealing with someone who knows nothing about this :s)

Hi,
yes I have set preferences. I opened the chosen port on my router (TCP) / "UPnP Port Mapping" selected / "NAT MPMP Port Mapping" selected / Max upload rate 20KB/s / Max download rate unlimited.
I also tried what you suggested but nothing has changed. I left the speed unlimited in the bandwidth allocation.
Anyway, I did all that (well, I think I did it right!), but I'm averaging (counting generously) at 10 KB/s.
Two months ago, I was around 90 KB/s (approximately).
That's it.
What am I going to do ;).

Hi,
just a word to add to the question of bandwidth.
I envy you: I'm capped at 10KB.
I've tried everything (within the limits of my skills!).
I've scoured all the forums (and I got a bit kicked out by ratatum too since I asked them the same question twice... to be fair, their solutions hadn't worked or were too complicated for me!).
I finally managed to assign a fixed IP to my computer, I think.
So I've gone from 0 KB to 10 (at most).
That still doesn't suit me, obviously.
I opened a port in the modem (Tecom AH4021).
I also discovered that Sunbelt (my firewall) was locking the ports I opened. Problem solved with ZAlarm.
But the bandwidth is still crawling!
What should I do? Open all the ports wide open? Isn't that going to expose me to all kinds of invasions!!!
And first of all, I don’t even know how I would do that!!!
Help!
PS: I'm on XP SP2, and I'm using µtorrent, so Port 25368 TCP.
There you go

I'm using public trackers, apparently.
I've done a check by changing trackers and searching for those with a lot of sources but I'm still slow.

For your information, just limit the upload to 6 kB/s (Below the screen, on the right. Right-click on the µTorrent icon/Upload Limit/6 kB/s).
Below 6 kB/s, µTorrent will automatically limit the download, but as long as you stay at 6 or above, there will be no limit.
But anyway... when you're not using your connection, seed as much as possible.

Hello Loug
I don’t understand what you’re saying. Just so you know, not everyone speaks English and we are often beginners. When you say "below the screen, on the right," are you talking about the utorrent icon in the taskbar? When you say limit the upload, are you talking about limiting the upload rate? When you say kB/s, do you mean kb (kilo bit) or are you really saying kB (kilo byte), which is really not the same thing? I’ve been searching, but I don’t understand, especially since everyone seems to say it's better to set the upload speed to unlimited.
And if I understood correctly from what I read elsewhere (which remains to be proven), 1 kB is approximately equivalent to 1 ko, so 6 kB would be ridiculously low. Even my standard connection at 2 Mbit/s is higher than that.
For your information:
2 Mb/s or 2048 kb/s or 256 ko/s in maximum download speed (that is to say, in reception) and 326 kb/s or 40 ko/s in maximum upload speed (that is to say, in emission).
I set everything to 0 (i.e., unlimited) and my highest peak doesn’t exceed 30 ko/s in upload and 250 ko in download.
For others, know that regardless, you will never be able to upload or download beyond what your connection allows. If you have a standard internet package like mine (you can find this information in your contract), the information in italics is correct (except it may be slightly less than 326 kb/s for upload - I have 2439 kb/s in download speed (reception) instead of 2048, so I suppose I may also have a little more in upload speed (emission). You should be able to find your exact speed in your client area in the configuration of your box).
This information is generally indicated under maximum download speed corresponding to reception and maximum upload speed corresponding to emission. This information is generally stated in kb/s. To know how much this gives you in ko, just divide the number of kb by 8, and you will then know how many ko max you can upload. If like me it’s about 40 ko/s, then 30 ko is not so bad. But others have much stronger connections, so it’s normal that they can receive or upload faster than us. Let’s compare what can be compared.
That is (in common language):
1 Mb = 1024 kb
1 kb = 1024 bit
8 b = 1 byte
Also to know:
It seems that you lose a little bandwidth when operating on wifi (which is my case). The distance from the relay point (or something like that) also has an impact and can reduce our bandwidth (I am very close, which is why I have a little bit more).
The number of leechers (those who are downloading the files you are uploading. When you upload, you are a seeder).
Another point, the speed of the person on the other end. That is to say, even if I had a high-speed or very high-speed connection and I am the uploader, if the person on the other end downloading the document I am seeding has a slow connection, my upload speed won't be very high anyway.
That’s it. If I made an error in interpretation, thanks to a tech wizard (which I am far from being) for correcting me.
Best regards,

hi
as for me, I already know all this.... I have been using torrents for several years
Scarface72 said "Don't limit your upload rate to less than 80% of your upload bandwidth!"
and how do you do for Download? on 80% of your bandwidth.
as for me, I share at 20-30% when I DL and then once the DL is finished, I set it to 100%
anyway.. no one found my issue (see email from January 20)
thanks

Hello everyone
Here I am sharing my little problem hoping to get a quick response
I am downloading with the latest version of uTorrent, I used to download around 100 which isn't great but for 1 mega it's not bad, I don't really care
I would like some clarification on a few points now that I am no longer downloading, I don’t have a stable connection anymore, I am experiencing spikes between 0 and 40, and it’s like that all the time, basically I’m not making any progress in my downloads. It worked for 2 days, but it's true that my ratio is very low, currently 0.489. I don’t see how to increase it, if you could help me, thanks
I have another question, my sources have disappeared, I only have clients left, my number is 8 (153) so I would like you to tell me what is the difference between sources and clients, to clarify my understanding
And finally, I also tried BitComet and it did the same thing, perfect downloads and after a while spikes from 0 to 40 (I can’t stay at 0 lol). I hope for a quick response from you and not a response from someone who doesn't know what to write about illegal downloads
Thanks, best regards, Me !!!

For your information, I think it comes from the site you’re downloading from. Go back to the site and click on the link for what you want to download again, and after that, uTorrent will tell you that you’re already downloading it. Click OK, and normally it should find all the sources. But if the site is lousy, think of another torrent site.
Hello,
I have a problem with uTorrent regarding the UPLOAD speed. It seems that I am stuck between 35/40 Kb/s even though I set the upload speed to unlimited. Moreover, I have no issues with the download speed. I have the impression that my firewall (McAfee) is blocking it since I previously had Azureus and experienced exactly the same problem!! Nothing has changed regarding the upload speed when switching download software!
Does anyone have any ideas?
Thank you.

What is your internet service provider... How fast do you think you can seed (upload) with µtorrent or another?
Do you know the principle of ADSL? (Asymmetric High-Speed Connection)
