How to open a port for Utorrent? Solved/Closed

Hello everyone, I would like to "open a port" in order to make the most of my connection:

On Utorrent, I am downloading at 15-20 kb/s even though I have a 30 Mega connection!!!!!

A little yellow panel appears at the bottom of Utorrent to indicate a connection problem, then I run the test to see if the port is properly opened and there: ERROR the port xxx does not seem to be open.

I am using a Belkin Wireless router to have Wi-Fi throughout the house but my computer is connected to this router via an Ethernet cable (the Wi-Fi is for laptops)

How do I open a port???

Simple and effective solution:

Step 1: In µtorrent, go to options > "Speed Guide" to find the "Current port", note this number (for me, it's 58391)

Step 2: In the control panel > Network connections > Local Area Network > the second tab (support) IP Address, note your machine's IP address (xxx.xxx.xxx.xxx)
(this path may depend on your version of Windows, but this IP address, although dynamic, doesn't change for me, so I'm not going to bother fixing it.

Step 3 Free.fr > my account > Optional features of the Freebox (Wifi, Router, IPv6...) > Router function - Configure > Port redirections >
- Paste the port you noted (step 1)
- protocol udp
- Paste the IP you noted (step 2)
- click add
Repeat the next line using protocol tcp this time
- Paste the port you noted (step 1)
- protocol tcp
- Paste the IP you noted (step 2)
- click add

at the bottom of the Free page click "send"

turn off and on your Freebox
it works!!! Simple and logical, right?

Hi, I need help with Utorrent, I read that I need to open ports 6881 and 6889 to achieve optimal download speed. The problem is that I have no idea how to open these ports.

Here is a FUNCTIONAL CONFIGURATION for FREEBOX + UTorrent (through 1 intermediate switch)

I have a freebox v4 in router mode, an intermediate switch, and 2 PCs with the following software: UTorrent 1.6, Grabit 1.7, AVG, Windows firewall

My PCs have static IPs (192.168.0.22 and 192.168.0.33), here is my router config on free:
- Freebox IP: 192.168.1.251
- Router activated
- DHCP: activated
- Start DHCP: 192.168. 1 . 51
- End DHCP: 192.168. 0 . 120
- DMZ IP: 192.168. 1 . 0
- Freeplayer IP: 192.168. 1.50
- Ping response: disable
- WOL Proxy (Wake On Lan): disable
- Port redirections:
Port Protocol Destination Port
44729 udp 192.168. 1.22 44729
44729 tcp 192.168. 1.22 44729

(for 2nd pc :
44729 udp 192.168. 1.33 44729
44729 tcp 192.168. 1.33 44729

Here are my TCP/IP settings for the first pc (same for the 2nd except IP^^ : 192.168.1.33):

ip: 192.168.1.22
subnet mask: 255.255.255.0
default gateway: 192.168.1.251

--- DNS ---
Provided by Free

Remember to add the ports (44729 in udp and tcp) with the IP of PC1 (192.168.1.22) to the Windows firewall of PC1,
ports (44729 in udp and tcp) with the IP of PC2 (192.168.1.33) to the firewall of PC2

UTorrent works:
(Grabit doesn’t work anymore.... I don’t know if the problem is related! With my old config it worked: free in router mode, PCs’ IPs on auto, no default gateway, the same DNS... I don’t understand)

(This config may work with 192.168.0.XXX everywhere instead of 192.168.1.XXX but not tested, as normally: freebox + router = 1 (not 0))

If you find it a bit complicated to manually open the ports on your modem;
Then it's simple:
there is an easy-to-use software that can do all that
it's: PFConfig (choose your router's brand and follow the configuration)

NB:
You can never open the ports of a Smart router from Fawri (Because the Fawri operator has enabled its firewalls)
