Utorrent Upload Issue Solved

Question

Hello everyone,

I have a problem that I really don't understand.
I have been using uTorrent for quite some time, but recently I've encountered an issue:
When I launch the software, I upload normally for 2 minutes, and then it stops, all the torrents are at 0kb/s.
No problems with downloading.
I’m using Free’s service.

Hi everyone!

I figured out where my problem came from: if I can't upload more than 100KB/s, it's definitely because of the ISPs RickyBobby! No bug in version 1.7.7, it's just about settings... and opening ports doesn't change much for the upload since Orange throttles the bandwidth! You can download fast but can't upload more than 100KB/s, that's just how it is! Or you could change to a 16MB plan, and then you'll be able to upload much more!

@killkauffmann -> first, you can change the language of µtorrent, go to Preferences (Ctrl + P) - General - Language and look for French... then you need to set your download limit to unlimited. To do that, right-click on the tab at the bottom of your taskbar, then download limit and check unlimited! Do the same for the upload limit...

I have pretty much the same issue and unfortunately no answer.
I'm downloading at around 300 kB/s with a record of 1150 kB/s.
I'm not going to complain about that!
However, the upload rate remains ridiculously low!
Almost close to 0, when before I managed (with difficulty) to reach 150 kB/s without EVER being able to exceed that!
The golden rule of sharing is: Give and you shall receive!
I’m willing to do that, but with such low uploads, the sharing isn’t fair, and the ratios take a serious hit!
So, if anyone knows a way to increase the upload rate, it would be greatly appreciated!

Hello.
If it helps, I've noticed something quite strange.
For some time now, when I launch uTorrent, all the upload counters turn red with a rate of 0. The download seems (roughly) normal (but rather below usual performance).
So, I have to quit uTorrent (not by the little red cross, but by the "file" option, "quit").
Yesterday, I even had to do it three times in a row!
The third time, all the counters turned green with an overall upload rate of 150 KB/s! (impossible to do better!)
One last little detail, don’t do these operations too quickly: at one point, if you restart uTorrent too quickly after closing it, a message says that uTorrent is still running!
So, I waited a good twenty seconds after closing it and then restarted.
If needed, between closing and restarting uTorrent, I even had to disable the connection, and then reactivate it afterwards!
Apparently, no more issues after that!
In the end, if it works, why not?

Are you signed up on elite team?
You shouldn't just download torrents
You need to go to elite team: welcome.....
and then search for the movie or game or whatever you want
then click on downloads
and your movie will appear in your torrent window

being simple, when you download a movie, your ratio decreases, because you just took!
to raise your ratio, you have to give!
also while you are downloading your torrent, you can see that you are also uploading (you are giving)
the thing is that if you downloaded a movie that has been on the tracker you chose for a little while, no one is downloading after you!
so you are not giving!! so you are not raising your ratio!
Keep an eye on the tracker you go to, and download a new release! After you, many downloads will follow and you will be able to upload and thus give!!
once your movie is complete, leave it on uTorrent, we say to leave it in seed!
you will see that you will be uploading, and thus you will be giving!
I then advise you to increase your upload speed to give more and thus best increase your ratio

I've hardly been able to upload for some time now :(
I tried with Bitcomet and then µtorrent. Both worked perfectly before this summer. But since August/September... my upload consistently drops to 0, then goes back up to around 1.5K/s. Sometimes I'm uploading at 0.2 :( When before I was uploading at 80K/s (my unbundled Free line allows for a maximum upload of 110K/s).

I've scoured the internet... apparently, a lot of people are having similar issues right now.
But I can't find a clear solution :/

With Bitcomet, I set the "New Half-Open Limit" to 50 (new problem with the SP2 of Win XP if I understood correctly).
With µtorrent, I checked "Enable encryption" (since I'm with Free... but still unbundled, apparently their limitations only apply to bundled users).

But nothing works.

Ah.. little oversight:
Sometimes my upload goes up to 35k/s or 40k/s for a while... but that's exceptional and rare.
I wonder if it’s not related to the client that the person downloading is using??
I see some clients (like someone who has µtorrent like me here..) for whom my upload stays desperately low (it's the same case for BitComet... etc..). And when it uploads faster (35k/s), it often involves another type of client... if I remember correctly, I think it's Azureus.

I should maybe try it on my side?

Anyway, any opinion is welcome... I’m starting to not know what to do :/

Bizarre, ça fait la même chose pour moi aussi depuis 2 jours, ça upload à 15k max. J'ai téléphoné à la compagnie d'internet et selon les tests faits, tout est A1. Alors que faire ? J'ai testé avec BitTorrent, BitComet et uTorrent.

I'm using µtorrent 1.7.7 and I would like to know how to "unlimit" sharing! Normally, I share at 100 KB/s, and I would like to increase my upload. I configure a file in "forced share" with infinite upload limit but nothing works! Even when I have several clients on an upload, it never exceeds 100 KB/s... Are there other settings I might have missed? Could it be due to my subscription? The software works very well, I just want to share a little more because sometimes I wonder how some people manage to upload files with the same software as mine at over 300 KB/s!!! I have a Livebox and XP. Thanks for your help!

@ Kwayde: I have the same setup as you, XP + Livebox, and I'm also having the same upload issue that doesn't work anymore.
This problem has been present since I installed the latest version 1.7.7.
Even when opening my ports in the LB, the port test was bad.
I had to reinstall version 1.6, so I can download now but can't upload anymore.
Tonight, I'm planning to reinstall the previous version 1.7.6, we'll see.
Could there be a bug in version 1.7.7?

@RickyBobby: I have no problems with µtorrent 1.7.7, I sometimes download at 600/700kb, but for example, if I only leave one file shared and put all the others on pause, I don't exceed 100kb/s upload... My ports are open, I have the green dot at the bottom of the µtorrent window and the test is OK, I set my upload limit to 0 (i.e. unlimited)... The only thing I can see is my ISP subscription or maybe I'm still on a shared connection, so I'm limited... I've had µtorrent since 1.7 and it's always done this to me! Thanks for responding, RickyBobby, I hope it works out for your reinstallation!
So I'm out of ideas, if others have had the same problem and solved it, I'm interested!

I resolved my issue by signing up and paying about 5 euros for a month on this site https://www.relakks.com/?lang=en, which provides me with another IP and means that all my downloads and uploads go through another site, so my download speeds are as they should be and my uploads are too. Therefore, I conclude that Cogeco is throttling my line... After this, you can create a new connection in Windows; in addition to that, you need to connect to your main internet and then to the connection you created using the information from the site.

I was using UTorrent and I downloaded Azureus. No more issues with the same tracker. So, problem with UTorrent.

Personally, I formatted and tried all existing torrent programs and I called Cogeco, and everything was normal according to them, so the only solution I found for myself is the one mentioned above; my internet line must be capped. This is what I deduced because in my speed tests, my speed was normal, so Cogeco found nothing unusual, but as soon as I connect to my connection created on the site https://www.relakks.com/?lang=en, everything is unblocked, and as soon as I disconnect, everything is limited to a ridiculous speed, but only with torrent programs.

@Heinrich: ISP = Internet Service Provider (Orange, Alice, Club Internet...) . Only Free seems not to throttle bandwidth! Everyone around me who has the same ISP as me and the same plan (including RickyBobby) is experiencing the same issue! After spending hours optimizing µtorrent as best as possible, 100Ko/s was the best result! And by checking other forums, other people confirmed my suspicions: ISPs restrict you to a certain bandwidth! That's it! bye

Attention Heinrich: at no point did I say that I had sharing issues; I just wanted to increase that sharing, that's all! If you're not sharing, it means either your µTorrent is misconfigured, your ports are not open, or you simply don't have any peers for your torrent; there are multiple factors! And it's not obvious to solve your problem like that...

I have 60 gigs in total combined download and upload, so I know that's not it; I haven't reached that limit, it's almost impossible lol. It's more than that, Cogeco here has switched to cable telephony and they prioritize that service over internet service.

Not knowing the Quebec internet market at all, I’m probably going to ask a stupid question, but here it goes: Is there only Cogeco in Quebec? No other service providers? Unless you’re tied to a specific contract that you can’t cancel before the end date? Or maybe Cogeco has a monopoly on the lines?

Hello everyone, so I downloaded Utorrent yesterday because I was told it uses way fewer resources than Azureus, which is true. However, I have a problem: I can't connect to any peers, while I'm downloading around 258 to 350 kbs, and I'm only uploading at barely 0.4 kbs. And with Azureus, I was able to upload. Heinrich, it has never caused me any problems either; I've been using it for 5 years and I've seen its evolution. For example, when uTorrent uses 5000 KB of memory, Azureus uses 1,000,000 KB, so yes, you could say it’s not a big deal, but now I can play, download, listen to music, and if I want to watch a movie, I know it’s useless, but oh well. Well, I have Free as my ISP, so you go to your Freebox interface, click on the internet tab, configure the router. From there, you open a UDP port with the port number you have in uTorrent, your IP. You do the same for the TCP port...  I know it may be a bit confusing, but when you're on your Free interface, it's clearer.  Otherwise, I have no idea how it works for other ISPs, but if you have an interface where you can adjust your router options, I think it's there..............

I have the same problem as all of you, upload throttled to less than 30 KB/s.  This is very recent, and I think that most ISPs have started implementing IDS to identify the packets (P2P) that pass through their network and throttle the upload. This is common technology found in most firewalls to scan and filter traffic.  Any other type of traffic (FTP, HTTP, etc.) uses the available bandwidth well. I have used various clients (Utorrent, Azureus) on different ports, with or without encryption, but nothing works.... Just so you know, I'm with Neuf.  If anyone has any information on this subject, I'm interested. Are there not trackers and clients in SSL? That seems to me to be the only workaround solution...

I had the same problem earlier and you'll see that at the very bottom center of the Utorrent page, there's something called DHT. Right-click on it and disable it, it worked for me.

Hello everyone, you want to easily increase your ratio, I found the solution and it works,  1 download: greedytorrent (either by going to Google or telecharger.com, etc...) 2 install: once downloaded, install the software like any other until you have its little logo on the desktop 3 configure: * open utorrent 1.8.5 (if lower version, same) * left click on the yellow gear (if older version, left click "options" (at the top of the page) then "preferences" * in the left panel: left click on connection * still in the panel but on the right in type: HTTP Proxy: localhost port: 3456 then confirm ok  4 in greedy torrent: set 1000 or a little less 800 in "report my upload as" and close  and enjoy watching your ratio on the bitorrent sites climb, so you can download whatever you want without worrying about anything,  ps: before downloading from a site, open greedytorrent and utorrent in the quick taskbar, when finished close either greedy torrent or both as you wish,  there you go,,,

Hello everyone.. I'm asking if someone could help me, I can't upload more than 30kb/s, it's a mess, I can't download much since I have to follow a ratio of 0.75.
