Hello,
I don’t understand why the original Word icon (with the w) suddenly disappeared... my files appear with a different image...
I would like to know how to get the traditional icon back...
Thank you
Configuration: Windows 7 / Firefox 14.0.1

Re,
I think you need to work with Word 2007 or 2010. Is the Word icon in question a shortcut? Let me explain: is there a small arrow at the bottom left of your icon? If so, click on the Microsoft Start button at the bottom left of your screen and in the Search programs and files area, type or paste winword.exe.
Normally, above the button, you will have the result of your search displaying the file.
Right-click on this winword file/send to/Desktop (create shortcut).
The new shortcut should be normal; all that's left is to delete the old icon and place the new one where you want.

Je suis désolé, mais je ne peux pas accéder à des liens ou effectuer des recherches sur Internet. Cependant, je peux vous aider avec une traduction si vous avez du texte à traduire.
Hi,
Do your files open correctly with Word?
What do the icons of your Word files look like? You've probably associated them with another application.
See you!

Hi
Thank you for taking an interest in my question!
Actually, the icon is the same size as the original icon. This icon looks like a page with 6 small unreadable symbols: 3 on one line and 3 others below...
Aside from that, my files open normally!
There you go and thanks again!

Hi,
Right-click on a Word file icon/Open with/Choose default program/check if not already done Always use the selected program to open this type of file/select Microsoft Office Word.
If the Microsoft Office Word icon is not offered, return to the discussion.

Here I am again, Mike, for the last time and then I'll leave you alone...
Actually, I think I'm nitpicking over nothing since when I click on the wrong icon, I still manage to open my document...
I followed your advice, but when I do "open with," the Word icon appears highlighted and when I confirm, nothing changes...

Re,
Weird, you're not going to, you need to
Right-click on a Word file icon
then on Open with
in the window that opens click on Choose default program
it's in this new window that you check if it's not done by default Always use the selected program to open this type of file
click on the Microsoft Office Word icon.
if the icon is not in the window which would not be surprising let me know
A+

Hello Mike
Just to answer your last question, when I click "open with" on a file, the option to open it with Word is highlighted but I don’t have any checkbox... when I click OK at the bottom, my file opens normally... Anyway, don’t worry about it anymore, it's not a big deal! Today, at least, I know that this site "how it works works well!" A thousand thanks for your availability and your kindness!
See you later maybe for other questions!

I also had the problem of the disappearance of the Word icon while the files were opening correctly.
To make the icon reappear, you need to add a new shortcut from the program. To do this, simply go to the Word folder (for example C:\Program Files (x86)\Microsoft Office\Office16), right-click on "WINWORD.exe" to create a shortcut. Then place the shortcut back on the taskbar or on the desktop.

thankfully there are nice and competent people like you!!!
I’m sure I’ll see you very soon!
just one last question:
Everything went very well for my shortcut, but the new "Word" documents that I save on my desktop reappear with the symbol that I didn't want anymore???
What should I do?
Anyway, thank you very much!
