Hello,
I have an external hard drive, but some files have become invisible. While browsing forums, I tried the "show hidden files" option in tools, but the files remain hidden.
Note:
- The hidden files are only in certain folders (especially the movies and a personal folder), the other files in other folders are visible.
- I experienced the same thing with a second hard drive. So either they crashed at the same time, or one of my two computers has a virus that could have infiltrated my hard drive.
So FIRST: how can I recover my data (very important files, I don’t want to lose them :( )
SECOND: if there is a virus, how can I eliminate it....
I thank the good soul who will come to my rescue...
Configuration: Windows XP / Firefox 14.0.1

Hi,
Plug in your external hard drive and check the corresponding letter.
Start < run < cmd and hit enter.
A black window opens, and type this chkdsk /f x: (replace x with the drive letter of the hard disk). Then hit enter.
Normally your files should reappear.
See you!
