    Hello,

You can easily install Office on another drive by specifying it during the installation (click "Customize" instead of "Install Now"). However, your version will only work on the computer where you installed your copy of Office. Otherwise, it would be too simple!

So it won't work if I plug the external hard drive into another computer?
Thank you for your quick response.

No, there are several reasons that explain this:

      1. Several registry keys are modified on the computer during the installation of Office 2010. If you change computers with your external disk, the program will not start again because it will no longer find these registry keys on the new computer.

      2. There is also a problem with licenses. You have, I suppose, an OEM license for Office. With this type of license, your software's serial number is tied to components of your computer. If you change computers, the components will no longer be the same and you will receive a nice message from Microsoft regarding a possible counterfeit of one of these software… !
