Browser that goes back on its own

Solved

Hello,

I hope someone can help me. My browser keeps going back to one or more previous pages automatically, without me doing anything with the mouse. It's becoming quite burdensome. I'm using Firefox, and I tested it with Chrome = same issue.
I want to point out that I just bought a laptop, and it started doing this right away, so I don't think it's a virus or anything ...

Thank you in advance for your help!

Best regards,

Configuration: Windows 7 / Firefox 8.0.1

Hello everyone, for my part with my new mouse, no more problems. I tested it today by putting the old one back and the problem came back. So for me, the issue was with my mouse, there you go if it can help. Good luck to the others.

I see that it's an old debate, but it really helped a lot today. Thank you very much.

Hello, I have encountered this problem several times. While reading your exchanges, I changed the mouse and it worked. Thank you

Hello,

Have you equipped your PC with antivirus and firewall (that are up to date)?

You wouldn't accidentally be pressing the "delete" arrow <--- (above the enter key) on the keyboard, would you?

Looking forward to hearing from you.

See you soon

Hello,

No, I haven't equipped it. But since it's been happening since the purchase... I don't think that's it.
I also don't touch the delete key on the keyboard. It happens even when I'm just using the touchpad.

Thanks for your help. Do you think I should run a scan? Do you recommend a specific one?

Best regards,

Re,

I humbly think so too.

1/ a) I recommend you install CCleaner, https://www.commentcamarche.net/telecharger/utilitaires/5647-ccleaner/
then open it, go to Tools, "Save List..." (bottom right) and please post this list in the attachment along with the Malwarebytes report.

b) Install a free and effective antivirus:

Either Avast: http://www.commentcamarche.net/download/start/telecharger-151-avast-free-version

OR

AntiVir: https://www.01net.com/outils/telecharger/windows/Securite/antivirus-antitrojan/fiches/tele13198.html

(one or the other NOT BOTH!!!)

-----

2/ (optional, not mandatory) Disable your Windows firewall; Start/Control Panel/System and Security/Windows Firewall/Turn Windows Firewall on or off and install one of your choice.

Online Armor or Zone Alarm (only install the free firewall) or COMODO Firewall (I prefer COMODO, but they are fairly equivalent)

Online Armor
https://www.commentcamarche.net/telecharger/securite/16545-online-armor-personal-firewall/

Zone Alarm
https://www.commentcamarche.net/telecharger/securite/24863-zonealarm/

Comodo
https://www.commentcamarche.net/telecharger/securite/6291-comodo-firewall-free-windows/

Don't forget to allow applications on restart every time an application is launched, while the firewall remembers legitimate applications.

---

3/ Download HitMan Pro and Malwarebytes.
(Download links below)
Hitman Pro: https://www.hitmanpro.com/en-us/downloads.aspx

Malwarebytes: https://www.commentcamarche.net/telecharger/securite/14361-malwarebytes-anti-malware/

a)
Run the Hitman Pro scan and see if it finds anything...

b)
* Launch Malwarebytes' Anti-Malware
* Update it
* Click on the "Scan" tab
* Check the "Perform Full Scan" option then click on "Scan"
* Choose to scan all your hard drives, then click on "Start Scan"

At the end of the scan, if MBAM found nothing:

* Click OK, the report opens automatically

If threats were detected:

* Click OK then "Show Results"
* Check that all lines are checked
* Choose the "Remove Selected" option
* If MBAM asks for Windows to restart: Click "Yes"
* The report automatically opens after removal, and it is also found in the "Reports/Logs" tab

* Copy/paste the report into the next message

Go to the attachment to paste the report please. Thanks.

Here: https://www.cjoint.com/

(Don’t forget the list of your programs in the attachment, the "install.txt" file that you saved by default in downloads.)

See you later

From the moment you have access to the Internet, you can be infected even with antivirus software, so without!

---

If all this does not solve your problem, I will lead you to another procedure ...

waiting to hear from you.

PS: if you could sign up on the site, it would be a + (the links would be more quickly accessible, valid), but you are not obliged to do so, you can remain as you are.

I forgot to mention, install ONE firewall of your choice from the 3 proposed: Online Armor or Zone Alarm (only include the free firewall) or COMODO Firewall (I prefer COMODO, but they are more or less equal). https://forums.commentcamarche.net/forum/affich-23820609-navigateur-qui-revient-tout-seul-en-arriere#3 scroll up for the links.

Happy scanning, have a good afternoon, Hitman is fast (5 to 10 min), Malwarebytes will take 3 to 6 hours.

See you later.

Same for me: in my search for legal texts, news, and case law, I often have four Firefox windows open.
Every time I open a new Firefox window, I go back to the second to last page.
I have a firewall, I have CCleaner, I have Avast antivirus, and I have Adware and RogueKiller.

And above all, I’m really getting FED UP!!!!!!
If only we could contact Mozilla, instead of having to leave messages on a forum.....
When you want to get your car repaired, do you prefer to go to the garage, or do you ask all your neighbors what to do?

It does exactly the same thing for me, on a new PC as well (I replaced my old PC specifically for the same problem and here it is happening on the new one too). I should specify that I have everything I need (antivirus, firewall, etc.).

Hello, same for me, is there a solution? Thank you. It's very annoying.

Are you sure there isn't a small button on the side of your mouse? I used to have a mouse with 5 buttons in total—three usual ones, one on the right, and one on the left—which allowed me to go to the next or previous page, and it was quite annoying, so I removed those buttons.

Hello, I just bought a new mouse and so far no more problems. I should have done this before getting a new PC lol.
