Hello,
I'm coming back to this issue because you gave me the solution to install Money 2005, but for that, it needs to be a first installation. If we try to install the patched Money 2005 after a first installation of the version without the update (uninstalled before the installation of the patched version), the same message appears: unable to find "autoupdate.dll" error code.....
This is for an installation on my desktop PC.
The patched version (which I kept...) is installed on my laptop, which is somewhat better.
If you have a solution, thank you in advance.
Configuration: Windows 7 / Internet Explorer 9.0

Hello;
I suggest you completely and cleanly uninstall MsMoney from this machine after carefully making your backups
To do this >> Check this link, follow the procedure
Then check in the registry if Money is still present in the keys (But normally it shouldn't be)
HKEY_CURRENT_USER/Software/Microsoft/Money >> Delete this key
HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE/Software/Microsoft/Money >> Delete this key
In another message you sent, I saw that you were also using Firefox Version 6.0 >> Use Firefox as your default browser
And make sure to stay on your own message from today to follow your issue so as not to mix up all the links
Thank you for coming back to the Forum to let us know if it is resolved or not
Best regards

Unable to launch Money
Always the same message regarding autoupdate
don't understand why
I don't understand why I can't get it to work on my desktop PC after uninstalling the previous installations.
Thank you for your help.
Can you provide the full error code displayed even after the...
(Sorry for the informal address, but it’s simpler and more direct for me)
I just scrutinized my Money installation CD, and in it, inside the Money folder, I found Autoupdt.dll >> Check if it’s present in yours, but it should be there since it’s working on the other machine
See this image
Also, try hovering over the Money application located in c:/programs/Microsoft Money and launching it in compatibility mode for Windows XP SP2 or 3)
See this image
A+
The mentioned files are indeed in the money directory
No matter the compatibility mode, the error message remains the same.
I have uninstalled and reinstalled, but the message remains the same.
There must be traces left on the HDD that prevent the installation from proceeding normally. But where? This is often the case with Microsoft, and only a complete formatting of the HDD allows for a proper reinstallation. I was able, with the Patch, to install Money 2005 on 2 machines that were free of any previous installations. I don't feel brave enough to format my HDD considering all the installed software......It's a lesser evil because I can continue to use Money 2005 on another machine, but it forces me to change places every time!!!
It would have been nice if I could use it on my PC, but what to do??? It's curious anyway.
Thank you and I'll await your reply
P.S.: I'm uninstalling again
Since you are going to uninstall again with I suppose Revo Uninstaller, then check in the registry as already done in the past
HKEY_CURRENT_USER/Software/Microsoft/Money >> Delete this key if still present
HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE/Software/Microsoft/Money >> Delete this key if still present
Then, and I just saw this this morning
1-Backup the registry before any modifications (in case of disaster)
2-Open the registry by typing "Regedit" in the Windows search bar
3-Edit tab >> Find >> Type MsMoney >> KEY
4-Delete all found keys one by one
5-Do this for the 5 HKEYs present
See this screenshot (There are a whole "bunch" of them)
Example for the 2nd HKEY
6-Open and display the hidden files of Windows
7-Search for MsMoney in the drives and folders present and delete MsMoney if present
8-Restart the machine
9-Redo the new installation of MsMoney with its patch
As for the error, I still haven't been able to find its origin
See this link if you are luckier or this one
If it still doesn't work after all this, the solution (maybe) is to do a repair of Windows with the installation CD
Edit: I have had MsMoney since 2005 that I have installed and uninstalled several times under XP and twice under Windows 7 without any problems
Have a good day and A+
