Whistle pregnant

Solved

Hello,
I have a Sony STR DG520 amplifier with a Jamo 5 speaker home theater system, and my problem is a high-pitched whistling from all the speakers. The volume height does not change the pitch of the whistling, so when I listen to music, I don't hear it, but when I watch a movie, it becomes very annoying.
My wiring is labeled, so there's no chance of + and - being swapped. I have isolated the amplifier and the speakers 2 meters away from any electrical appliances. I have also unplugged everything connected to the amplifier, which includes a mixing console, Xbox, and TNT decoder, and I have changed the power outlet, but nothing works; the problem persists.

If anyone could guide me on this issue, thank you very much!!

Configuration: Windows Vista / Safari 534.30

    Hello,

What is the impedance of the Jamo speakers?

What are the accepted impedances of the Sony amplifier?

What cabling do you use for the analog "audio" connections of the devices and what cabling do you use for the speakers?

      Hello,

The speaker impedance is 6 ohms and the amplifier is rated for 8-16 ohms. The audio connection for the devices is RCA, and the speakers are wired with thick 4mm diameter copper cable.

Wiring is way too thick for Jamo speakers:
To know, 4mm² wire is recommended for power levels up to 400W, unnecessary for an amplification of 60W per channel, but that's not the problem since it's about impedance!

Your amplifier accepts BETWEEN 8 ohms and 16 ohms, so not below 8 ohms. You probably asked too much from it, and in the end, it is hissing.

      Solution: change the amplifier.
