Hello,
So I'm listening to music on my amp using an RCA jack cable, but when I turn up the volume, my amp starts to crackle.. which produces a very unpleasant sound.
My amp is a Kenwood KA-601. Could someone help me solve this problem? (grounding, amplifier problem...?)
Configuration: Windows 7 / Safari 537.1

Hello Dav,
You are using precisely the only input to avoid for devices other than the turntable. Indeed, the phono input is a high-impedance circuit with high sensitivity and operates a RIAA compensation (roughly, a modification of the bandwidth for low and high frequencies).
This correction is intended to compensate for the physical characteristics of piezoelectric cartridges.
Therefore, plugging a device into this input causes undue correction and saturation.
It is not a hum, which is a problem of interference between poorly isolated circuits or poorly connected to the negative pole of the main printed circuit board.
But both phenomena (hum and saturation) can combine.
Good tests.
